| Best Live Bands
List of bands that put on the best live performances I've seen to date. Feel free to add any that you think is a must-see band. | 1 | Dillenger Escape Plan
It could have been the fire-breathing. It may have been due to their insane leaps off stack into the crowd. Could have been that they ripped the ears out of all their listeners, in a good way. Hell, maybe it was the abundance of marijuana smoke filling the room. But these guys fucking OWNED. | 2 | Emery
(Pre-The Question) One of the most energetic bands, played their music flawlessly, awesome charisma, dressed up as fruit, win. After they've released their new albums (I haven't seen them post-Shallow Seas), they're still not bad, but they're not as energetic and fun as they used to be. | 3 | Zao
All three times, Zao never failed to put on one of the most lively shows I've ever seen, despite their age. | 4 | MeWithoutYou
Take any chance you get to see these guys. They will blow you away with expert musicianship and undoubtedly some random crazy, and awesome surprise. | 5 | Brand New
Played without missing a note, and really gets the crowd that personal feeling. Great great band to see. | 6 | Dance Gavin Dance
(With Johnny Craig) I was skeptical, since on DTBM Craig has such a dynamic voice that he'd have to fill, but I was not let down in the slightest. He sang perhaps even more dynamically live, and even Mess's screams were tolerable. | 7 | Catherine
If you like very loud, very heavy, very chaotic performances, you'll definitely like to see this band. | 8 | August Burns Red
They seem to play at every metal show I attend, and I can honestly tell you that they have played absolutely flawlessly all 5 times I've seen them. Very heavy, technical, and charismatic showing. | 9 | The Casualties
I'm honestly not a huge punk fan, but I've seen these guys 3 times, once at warped, twice with my friends who love punk, and I've got to say these guys put on a fantastic show. Very involved with the audience - kickin people in the face, running around in the little circle pit punching people as he runs by shouting, ect. Great times. | 10 | HORSE The Band
They're just freaking hilarious. I'll admit, they put on a pretty bad performance when it comes to musicianship, but I guarantee you'll laugh your ass off if you see this band. | 11 | The Dear Hunter
Probably the best musicianship I've ever heard live. Ever. | 12 | Bayside
There is nothing not to like about these guys. They play perfectly, they're rude in the funniest way possible. Just great. | 13 | Gallows
If you saw these guys at Warped this year, you'll probably know what I'm talking about. The vocalist (who is very small) starts shit with everybody, it's hilarious. | 14 | The Number Twelve Looks Like You
Interactive, crazy, excellent. Seem to enjoy what they do, unlike a lot of bands these days. | 15 | The Irish Front
I saw these guys before I heard them on CD, and I have never been so impressed by a band I haven't seen before. Very heavy and very fun to watch. When I looked them up and watched their little Summer tour video, almost all of their footage was from the show I saw them at, so maybe they were just really good that night? I don't know, but I'm not impressed from their CD material. | 16 | Stutterfly
Fun. Good. Interactive. Not much else to say really. That one famous single (that I ironically can't remember the name of) was epic. | 17 | Unearth
Amazing music. Amazing performance. Amazing beards. | 18 | Andrew Bird
Best musician evar. He had the most amazing setup with like 20 instruments that he could play to his liking. And oh boy did he.. | 19 | Casey Jones
One of the craziest performances I've seen. | 20 | The Academy Is (acoustic)
Best acoustic setup that I've seen. | |

08.28.09 | Seeing Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember, and Manchester Orchestra in the coming month. I've heard that all 3 of these bands put on amazing shows. | IsItLuck?
08.28.09 | yeah, Dillinger* are one of the best live shows. Explosions in the Sky, if you're a fan, is a must see. | Fapper
08.28.09 | I don't think I've heard them, honestly. But I'll definitely look into it, if they play anything like Dillinger (love misspelling #1 bands) | Fapper
08.28.09 | I forgot to put As Cities Burn up there. I would say "must see" if they were still together :( | killrobotmusic
08.28.09 | I've seen Dillinger twice and they were incredible. Greg was hanging upside down from the rafters screaming when I saw them in PA, and in NYC he was climbing up a wall of speakers while Ben Weinman was kicking everyone's amps over. It was incredible.
Also if you enjoy the green grass, you would be foolish to not see Slightly Stoopid. They tear it up. | Douglas
08.28.09 | I saw Parkway last week with August Burns Red... And ABR absolutely blew Parkway away even though it was a Parkway headline! | Fapper
08.28.09 | Was still Parkway good though? lol | Douglas
08.28.09 | Yeah they were still pretty awesome. | Masochist
08.28.09 | Gun In Hand. | Fapper
08.28.09 | Thanks. You don't know how much stress you just relieved, Masochist | Mordecai.
08.28.09 | I enjoyed Architects the most Dougie, but i went to the Canberra show. | PanasonicYouth
08.28.09 | from what i've heard, list needs moar bomb the music industry! | CrackTheSkye
08.28.09 | Dillinger were amazing at Soundwave this year. Ben threw his guitar into the crowd at abut the third song (think someone got knocked out or hurt by it.) Greg kicked someone sign down saying “No Moshing.” plus countless other things. | DaveyBoy
08.28.09 | Interesting list that was a good read.
Definitely didn't expect The Academy Is... at the end. | FadeToBlack
08.28.09 | Amon Amarth | Knott-
09.02.09 | diggin12 so hard atm
