While technically death metal, it's a lot better than most of whats in the genre (i like death metal though) there's also Slayer Iron Maiden Black Sabbath Deep Purple Testament Kreator Exodus Megadeth Anthrax Dream Theater Fear Factory Mastodon Opeth Opeth are definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for long songs.
