09.30.06 My Top 25 Albums

My Top 25 Albums

These are the albums that have changed the way I listen to music and are my favourites.
1Metallica
Master of Puppets

Metallica at they're absolute best. Metallica with their best line-up. This album was the stuff of pure genius. "Battery," "Damage Inc." and let's not forget the title track. This album made me want to play guitar.
2The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Are You Experienced

What can I say? It's Hendrix! "Purple Haze" is one song that I could listen to all day and all night. Hendrix was the master.
3 Led Zeppelin IV
Led Zeppelin

This is the album with "Stairway to Heaven," a song that still gives me chills everytime I hear it.
4The Offspring
Ixnay On The Hombre

When I was a kid, this album got me off the kids stuff. This album got me listening to music, rather than singing along to pop. I remember hearing "Gone Away" and thinking, I've been listening to a lot of crap! This album got me going in a different direction.
5Simon & Grafunkel
Bridge Over Troubled Water

I know it seems like it doesn't belong here, but this is one album I couldn't live without. Something to groove to, "Keep the Customer Satisfied," vocals to inspire you "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and so many other tracks I love to listen to when I'm feeling nostalgic.
6Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Californication

I remember being about 14 years old when I heard this album for the first time. There was so many good songs that I couldn't pick a favourite. When I got my first guitar, these were the songs I learnt first.
7Queen
A Night At The Opera

You listen to this album and just think, wow, Freddie Mercury had a gift! I love this album, every song is like poetry. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the song that showed me rock music doesn't just have to be heavy and fast, it can be beautiful and take the form of many styles in just one song.
8Metallica
S&M

This was Metallica all grown up in my opinion. With the orchestra to back them up and James' voice at it's best, this was the album that really spoke to me. I heard this album at a friends place years ago, and it was the first 'live' album I ever brought. The DVD came later. "Bleeding Me" and "Hero of the Day" were my favourites on this album.
9Slipknot
Iowa

This was Slipknot at their best, before loosing their fierceness for Vol. 3 they made Iowa. "Left Behind" - one awesome track.
10 Echobrain
Echobrain

After Newstead left Metallica, he made some amazing music with Echobrain. There's even a track with Kirk Hammett on the album. "Keep Me Alive" and "Suckerpunch" are the stand outs for me on this album.
11System of a Down
Toxicity

System were one of the first bands that I ever saw live, and they were great. Though I don't care for Hypnotize or Mesmerize that much, I could listen to Toxicity non-stop. "Chop Suey" was such an amazing song.
12 Metallica
St Anger

Okay, I know a lot of people don't like this album. It wasn't a great Metallica album, we all know they can and will do better, but it was a great album. Songs like "The Unnamed Feeling" and "Frantic" were great songs. I listen to this album a lot.
13HIM
Love Metal

I listened to this album constantly for about six months. Valo's voice is just so appealing to me. I still listen to this album when I just want to chill out. "The Sacrement" and "The Path" are two of my favourite songs.
14The Doors
The Doors

This album is classic, and any rock collection is not complete without it. "Light My Fire" is one of the best songs EVER and I could listen to that ALL day.
15The Beatles
Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

What would music have been like without the Beatles? This is my favourite album of theirs. I would list my favourite songs off the album, but then it would just end up being a track list.
16 Eagles of Death Metal
Death by Sexy

I've only discovered these guys recently, and I'm still finding my way around their music but I really like their stuff. It's easy to listen to and I just can't get it out of my head! "I Want You So Hard (The Boys Bad News)" is my favourite off this album.
17The White Stripes
Get Behind Me Satan

I saw The White Stripes live at the beginning of this year and now I can't help but love them! This album is my favourite of theirs. "Blue Orchid" has to be my favourite song of theirs.
18Megadeth
Greatest Hits, Back to the Start

A die hard Metallica fan could never enjoy Megadeth right? Well that's what I thought until I picked up this album and had a good listen. "In My Darkest Hour" and "Trust" are two songs that are now among my all time favourites.
19Johnny Cash
American IV: The Man Comes Around

Although not usually a big fan of cover albums, this one was really good. Johnny Cash speaks right to my soul, and can play a decent guitar too. "Personal Jesus," and "The Man Comes Around." Essential listening.
20The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Axis: Bold As Love

Another album from the master. Hendrix was like a god, and his work still stuns me today! "Little Wing" is my all time favourite song.
21Foo Fighters
There Is Nothing Left To Lose

"Learn To Fly" was one of my favourite songs when it first came out. I've always loved Dave Grohl's voice, it's just fanatastic. He's incredibly talented.
22Silverchair
Frogstomp

Silverchair were HUGE in Australia when they first came out, and I was not immune. I loved their first few albums. "Israel's Son" and "Tomorrow" were perfection to me when I first heard them.
23 Foo Fighters
In Your Honour

This album, well there's just no words. I listen to it constatntly. "The Best Of You" came out just when I was going through some tough times in my life, and it just related so well. Grohl, you sing straight to my soul.
24The Offspring
Smash

I love this album, I started listening to this when I was like 10, and I still pull it out and have a listen now. "Self Esteem" and "Bad Habit" are my favourites off this album.
25Metallica
Load

Some of my favourite Metallica songs are on this album. "Hero of the Day" and "Mama Said" are great for listening to late at night when I'm feeling kind of sleepy, "Ain't My Bitch" and "King Nothing" get me all fired up and ready to go.
