| albums that MADE me
yeah, these are the albums that made me what i am today. i practically give advice to people from what i've learned from these albums lyrically AND musically (music is such a beautiful thing and it's gives me peace) | 1 | | Blink-182 Blink 182
after i got sick of RAP music i moved on to rock in the seventh grade. punk rock was introduced to me by friends kevin smith and hermie basa, and this album was my first one too. you may not call this punk rock but i thought of it anyway. and then i found the better old blink's =P but this was my first influensive one. | 2 | | Linkin Park Hybrid Theory
honestly, who the hell never got into linkin park? thanks to the curse-free album, which made the album EASILY PURCHASED, this band is probably THE band that made young people get into heavier music. i loved the lyrics which i thought were great back in seventh grade, and the screaming with spinkles of rapping slightly made me look to heavier music. i remember trying to buy meteora for $40 from a friend one time and i'm glad i didn't. | 3 | | Metallica Master of Puppets
when i turned eight grade, this was my first real heavy metal album. by that time i knew music was beautiful but this was just a monster that ate me up. i even started a new year by listening to this album right when the clock turned 12 o' clock. a fucking classic. | 4 | | Simple Plan No Helmets, No Pads... Just Balls
while i was into metal, i was still into punk. i claim this cd very important because if i didn't put it in my playstation and gave it a listen, i wouldn't have claim that THIS BAND FUCKING SUCKS. I SKIPPED THE WHOLE DAMN CD. this started my dislike for fake, bland rock and metal. | 5 | | In Flames Colony
two words: HOLY SHIT. if you think metal is all about headbanging 'till your eyes bleed, think again. the whole cd was so melodic that it would make the demon inside you cry. music never got this beautiful before to me, from classic songs "colony" to "ordinary story", this cd is a classic. heavy but astonishingly beautiful. | 6 | | Rage Against The Machine The Battle of Los Angeles
the reason why i hated rap is because of the bullshit lyrics about sex and drugs they do is so useless. rage changed that for me, with it's activist lyrics and rock/metal sounds. the band has great lyrics and lessons about human rights, the government, mexican history, etc., this is the best rebel band that was ever created. "i'm calm like bomb!" | 7 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits
going back to my rock roots, flea's bass just got me. i never listened to the peppers before so i bought the greatests hits when it came out to save me money from buying all their albums. it was just a good collection of songs and when i bought stadium arcadium, almost all songs sounded like hits. the reminder that both heavy and the soft side of music is deadly. | |

10.17.06 | Pretty good list. I agree with you about Linkin Park, they were basically the only band I listened to when I was younger because they never cursed. I hate them now though :) | raab
10.17.06 | I agree with the first 2.
Don't listen to em now though. | pulseczar
10.17.06 | 1 is the only good album, so yeah, you were probably better off with the RAP (CAPS). | Waterloo_Sunset
10.17.06 | I never got into Linkin Park - by the time they came out I was into the curse-ridden Rap Metal of Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock and kind of looked down on them at the time as a child-friendly alternative - not realizing at the time the music I was into was no better... those teenage years were dark days indeed! | AmericnZero02
10.17.06 | I think your one of the few who didnt Waterloo. Seems like everyone dug Linkin Park at one point and introduced them to heavier music. Kind of the same deal with 1 and 3 also. Except my first blink album was Dude Ranch and my first metallica album was St. Anger. | shevanel09
10.17.06 | i can agree with a lot of the list, except for simple plan. i always feel sad whenever i listen to that blink182 one, and i do not know why. my first metallica was (sadly) st anger | Rocksta71
10.17.06 | When I was 14 I loved Linkin Park, Blink 182 and Limp Bizkit but then I grew up.
I'm more into Pogressive/Psychadelic rock now (King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Mars Volta ect.) | Zesty Mordant
10.17.06 | If I were you, I'd start listening to rap again, 'cause you're missing out on some great music. | Waterloo_Sunset
10.17.06 | think i'm lil bit older than most on sputnik - the fact i never got into Linkin Park - but then my first Blink182 album was anemmia of the state and Metallica "the black album" - i think most people who were kids in the 90s would have the following bands play a big role in developing their musical taste: Nirvana, Metallica, Green Day, Blink 182 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers - possibly the Offspring too - it was the foundation of a generation of Rock fans! | Bfhurricane
10.17.06 | Ride the Lightning by Metallica made me. as did Rock in Rio by Iron Maiden. Though Hybrid Theory did get me into the heavier stuff thats a great cd IMO | jrowa001
10.18.06 | 3, 5 and 6 are classic albums, that cuz theyre great bands. i agree with your view on rap....its full of b.s. lyrics about stupid immature stuff | bicepman4000
10.18.06 | I'm with Waterloo Sunset on this one. Linkin Park was the watered down version of other 90's influential bands and I never got into them at all, although I was already listening to heavy music. | bicepman4000
