Decade List, Because I Have To

So I heard that if you don't make a list of your favorite albums from the last decade the Sputnik Police come to your house and break your kneecaps with a baseball bat. So in the interest of not wanting to be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of my life, here's mine. P.S. List doesn't "need M0AR" anything because it's my opinion and not yours, mmk?
1The Mars Volta
Frances The Mute

Enormous, dark, monolithic, seamless. The best.
2 Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven

I've only listened to this about 10 times, and for good reason. It's a draining experience.
3RX Bandits
Mandala

Solid, from start to finish. Not a bad track in the bunch. Excellent songwriting and musicianship brought to life by some of the most passionate musicians out there.
4Hella
There's No 666 In Outer Space

Every time I listen to this, it's like the first time. Zach Hill went to another planet to see what kind of music they were digging, then came back and recorded this.
5At The Drive-In
Relationship of Command

What needs to be said about this one? Everyone who's heard this album knows why.
6 Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra
13 Blues for Thirteen Moons

Lots of people didn't like this album, including me at first. I listened to it a few times then left it alone for about a year.
After revisiting it, it was like a different record. I "get it" now. It's lyrically brilliant, angry, sad, and raw. Piss 'n vinegar committed to disc.
7Tool
Lateralus

Tool's definitive album. You'll never hear anything else like it (except for 10,000 Days amirightguys! High5!)
8Opeth
Blackwater Park

Opeth, masters of contrast. From oppressive weight to stunning clarity and back again. And the riffs, oh the RIFFS!
9Incubus
Morning View

This is the album that got me really interested in music; the first album I ever bought. Prior to this, I just listened to whatever shit was on the radio. Nickelback, Staind, oh the shame...oh the shame.
10 The Mars Volta
Deloused In The Comatorium

I didn't want to double up on any artists, but I have to in this case. Morning View got me interested in music, this album is what made me passionate about music. To use an overdramatic analogy, it was like when Neo comes out of the Matrix for the first time.
