I hate the first two bands I mentioned, but Godspeed is actually a GOOD band. Do you know what good is? nope. You don't. but you bring shit that the site needs, and I respect you for it. SeaAnemone 02.25.10	I appreciate your musical taste because obviously you put time and effort into deciding what music suits you best, as a listener. In such a case, one person's music taste CANNOT be objectively better than another's. It's impossible. As much as you insisting on huffing and puffing (I KNAW LOTS BOUT JAZZ!), on spouting out hypocrisies (too many to name, let's use the simple FR one up there), on writing both comments and reviews that imply you haven't much knowledge, BUT YAR REALLY PROUD OF IT (Mastodon, I'm not even gonna say the quote), on misunderstanding middle-school vocabulary (pretentious), it doesn't make you taste objectively better than mine. Have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that you enjoy music because of the technical prowess (well, certain types of it) and I, on the other hand, enjoy music on a much more personal and emotional level, and there's nothing wrong with that?

NeutralThunder12 02.25.10	good to see a valid argument, though one thing you said isn't true. Technical prowess is either loved or hated especially on this site. I love it. Love it. Love it when bands go too far and let technicality take the place of normal songwriting. However, I too, more than you think, also love personal and emotional music that focuses on lyrics and vocal melodies. Examples: Frightened Rabbit, Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, Opeth (seriously, I know this sounds weird, but they are the least technical metal band in the world), and Sigur Ros. Sure. I love beautiful vocal melodies, and those heart-warming lyrics, but what you need to get it this. There are bands that do what Bon Iver and Noah does, (you know, the deep meaning and gorgeous vocals) better, and, with more sophisticated music, best example Sufjan Stevens. Now, it's not that complexity>>>simplicity every time, because thats DEFINITELY not true, however, just understand that you think I'm all about tech... but I'm not. When technicality is handled masterfully though, it's the best thing in the world. Try Sufjan. Try Yndi Halda. Try The Decemberists. Meaningful songs with masterfully handled complex music. It just has more to offer. I'm not always about technicality, not at all.

SeaAnemone 02.25.10	no no no I'm not referring to contrived "supposed-to-be-emotional" stuff. I'm referring to music that, for one reason or another, strikes a cord with me personally. Like when I referred to 3Eye Blind - s/t and you scoffed for some reason, even though I explicitly explained that it's associated with some fond memories I have, therefore I love listening to it.

NeutralThunder12 02.25.10	Your fine with that opinion, thats ok. But just because I enjoy saying stupid things... doesn't mean I always mean what I say. In fact, I say meaningless crap all the time. Just don't care. I will say this, though I hate most of your tastes, I respect what you are into because it's meaningful to you. Just know this. To me, technicality is great, but it's not the most important thing. If everyone released an album as complex as BTBAM's "Colors" I wouldn;t love or like them all, because technicality sucks if it doesn't work or is not handled well. But again, I respect your tastes and what you do for the site, though yes, I do hate most of the bands you like.
