Deathcar
03.17.10 | Some real classics in here (1, 4, 5 and 7.)
But also some more, uh, questionable ones... |
Slipping Away
03.17.10 | ^^^agreed, 5 is my all time fav |
Deathcar
03.17.10 | Wouldn't say all time fave, but it's definitely up there. Also, how did I miss 6, that's worthy of a top ten list. |
BigHans
03.17.10 | 1,4,6,7,8 are straight up classics. Burn My Eyes is fucking brutally awesome. |
Yeahtoast
03.17.10 | ^^ totally agree Hans. Glad they played a decent bit of material from it on the Black procession tour recently! |
Deathcar
03.17.10 | LET FREEDOM RING WITH A SHOTGUN BLAST! |
BurningApollo
03.17.10 | I agree with all on the list except #2. I just don't understant how anyone over the age of 12 can like Disturbed. |
Yeahtoast
03.17.10 | That's your opinion Apollo, bands with an under 12 fanbase tend not to do so well though :) |
Yeahtoast
03.17.10 | Feel free to rec something, I listen to pretty much everything |
Baphomet
03.17.10 | if it wasn't for 10 and 9, this is me before joining sputnik. |
JWT155
03.17.10 | Ten at 10, lol. |
Yeahtoast
03.17.10 | I probably listen to more death metal than anything else but these are just a few that have always stayed with me, Sputnik introduced me to some pretty sweet stuff also |
linchpin313
03.18.10 | its quite refreshing not to see Converge in a list for a change... not that i dislike them... just over-exposed here in sputnik.. |
SeaAnemone
03.18.10 | linchpin I hear you have a crush on Yeahtoast? |
linchpin313
03.18.10 | hahaha this list is the closest i've seen to mine very own, i'm well aware that this kind of music isn't to the taste of Sputnik's finest crew but hey, what did you expect from a nu-metal fan such as myself... |
SeaAnemone
03.18.10 | ugh nu-metal... the "are we sure he isn't mentally handicapped? well, it's too early to tell he's only in 5th grade" kid in the school of music. |
linchpin313
03.18.10 | aaaaah you must be a Converge fan.... oh wait, even better: Dillinger Escape Plan maybe? |
SeaAnemone
03.18.10 | neither... I've heard Converge and I can tell they're very talented but not my cup 'o tea. |
linchpin313
03.18.10 | And i would have probably liked them... if they weren't liked by bunch of elitist twats on here actually.
but anyway, there is NOTHING wrong with Nu metal despite what the majority says, and its very much alive and well may i add. =D |
SeaAnemone
03.18.10 | idk I think being an elitist and knowing a lot about lots of great music sounds better than being a close-minded nu-metal fan. |
jesusjuice1179
03.18.10 | i hate nu-metal |
linchpin313
03.18.10 | Closed minded???? how the hell did you come to that conclusion? |
SeaAnemone
03.18.10 | idk maybe it was a bad assumption but your ratings are 81% metal and nu-metal and the rest are closely related to those genres. I'm assuming you listen to little other than these bands or bands that sound like the bands you already like and dismiss bands that require a little more listening like Converge, or bands like subtlety like indie and related genre as bands for elitists. |
Baphomet
03.19.10 | Dr. SeaAnemone: Analizing the shit out of you since 2009. |
linchpin313
03.19.10 | i had to actually double check my rating and though its not exactly well balanced, its not fair to say that they are related at all, i would choose to highlight Meshuggah as a prime example of difficult listening but that's as far as i go because its no longer fun, and there is such a thing as too heavy too, until it becomes just white noise with some idiot screeching over it. there is a sense of fun with nu metal without taking things seriously, yes the riffs on them can be performed by a 9 year old and i wouldn't call those kind of bands 'talented' but its fun, catchy, energetic, and emotional at times. It instantly serves its purpose. |
linchpin313
03.19.10 | And on the subject, i would like to highlight Disturbed's success in the mainstream with 4 straight no1 albums and no one seems to give a shit that a metal band can do that, instead its all insults usually regarding Draiman, in case some people weren't aware, this chrismas gone, there was a campaign here in the UK to get RATM to no1 in the chart with 'Killing in the name' alot of people who weren't fans bought the song to support the cause against a show produced cover and we did it and THAT'S how its meant to be, them against us.. so i dont see the point of what practically is a "civil war" here. |
Urinetrouble
03.19.10 | 4,6,7, and maybe 1=epical win |
Yeahtoast
03.19.10 | Sea...something or other not arsed looking, you seem to think you're a connoiseur of opinions, pretentios to the extreme. Linchpin has a crush on me? Mature!
As far as nu metal goes, if it sounds good, I'll listen to it, if it sounds shit i will not. Simple as.
And did you imply people who listen to nu metal are 5th graders? I'm not from America but I think that means about 11...you can't say that, you listen to paramore (snigger) no one over the age of 15 listens to paramore because they outgro emo and just become to mature. And if they don't, well, they're mentally handicapped.
David Draimen FTW |
vanderb0b
03.20.10 | 1,3,6=awesome |
Yeahtoast
03.21.10 | I think all System's albums were consistently brilliant though. Toxicity is just one I've been listening to longest |
SeaAnemone
03.21.10 | Yeahtoast, I really dislike Paramore. |
Yeahtoast
03.21.10 | Me too :) |
omgraptors
07.25.10 | hey 2 is a classic too |
silentpotatofan
