| Muse/Silversun Pickups In Ft. Worth
Couple days ago, I went to the Muse/Silversun Pickups at the Ft. Worth Convention Center. Best show I've ever seen, with the possible exception of System of a Down/The Mars Volta in 2005 (my first concert). Here's what they played. | 1 | Silversun Pickups ...Ahh, not sure
5 minutes before the concert was supposed to start, the band came out on stage and started playing. More than half the seats were still empty throughout most of their show. And I know it's lame not to know the name of the song they opened with. I can't even describe it...but I liked it enough :-P. | 2 | Getting Old Is Growing Old
One of my favorite non-single songs, and this is the one where the band really started rocking. | 3 | No Secrets This Year
Another one of my favorites from 'Swoon'. | 4 | The Royal We | 5 | Future Foe Scenario | 6 | Substitution | 7 | Panic Switch
Lame as it is, this is my favorite song by the band. Sad thing is, my roomate and I were up in the nosebleed section, and I was the only person even standing up for this song, let alone rocking out. Doesn't matter; didn't go to sit still ;-). | 8 | Lazy Eye
They went out with a bang here, probably the best song of the night. | 9 | Muse Uprising
On stage all night were these three huge rectangular pillars remeniscent of the WTC towers that stretched from stage to ceiling. When the lights went off for Muse, small squares began to light up randomly on each side of the pillars like the lights of a skyscraper, and then it showed the image of people walking up stairs to nowhere, and then falling down to nowhere. Finally, after the build-up, the pillars split open around the middle to show each member of the band on a pillar with their respective instruments blasting out this song while lasers flashed frenetically about the arena. Bombastic? Oh, yeah...but very definitely, classically Muse. Here's a picture of it: ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MuseNIA.JPG | 10 | Resistance
The platforms lowered so that the band could play on stage, and periodically they would become whole again. There were visuals on those things non-stop, and lasers and light for every song. | 11 | New Born
I expected "Undisclosed Desires," which isn't one of my favorite songs at all, to come up here...but when this played instead, I was blown away. So glad they played it, absolutely one of the best songs on 'Origin of Symmetry', which is saying a lot. | 12 | Supermassive Black Hole | 13 | MK Ultra | 14 | Hysteria
I'm surprised they played this so early in the setlist, but it was no less effective. | 15 | Nishe
No, really, I had to look up the name of this song, as I have never heard it in my life. This is a b-side to a single from 'Showbiz' ("Uninteneded"). You could tell that very few people knew the song (me not being one of them), but it was really damn good. Come to think of it, I don't even own 'Showbiz', and I should probably look up some b-sides to the band if they sound like this. | 16 | United States of Eurasia | 17 | Feeling Good
Matt Bellamy started this out by playing the intro to "Take A Bow." Wish they would've played that one, but it didn't happen. Still, glad this one was pulled out. | 18 | Helsinki Jam
One of those jam sessions they have at the concert. This one was really heavy on drums, and Dominic Howard fucking destroyed those things. | 19 | Undisclosed Desires
Oh...here it is. | 20 | Starlight
...and another one of my least favorite Muse songs right after. | 21 | Unnatural Selection | 22 | Time Is Running Out
From my seat, I could see the sea of people lucky enough to buy floor tickets all jumping in unison to this song. I was too, as was the guy next to me. | 23 | Plug-In Baby | 24 | Muse (Encore) Exogenesis Symphony, Pt 1: Overture
They left, but the lights didn't come on, so we knew they were coming back. Very over the top. | 25 | Stockholm Syndrome
My absolute favorite song of the night. Seriously, I went crazy when they started playing this, even though I knew it was coming. | 26 | Jam Session
Don't know the name of this jam session, but it was pretty cool. The band left AGAIN after this one, and AGAIN left the lights off. Then one of them came back on with a harmonica and played a bit of something you might here during the opening of Roseanne. A whole lot of western-themed sound effects came around (horse-hooves and such), and lights shone on the band as they played their instruments leading into the last song of the night (and I'm sure everyone knew what it would be). | 27 | Knights of Cydonia
They made this as big as you can make a 6:00 minute song with all of six lines of lyrics. It was pure excellence; best song to close out one of the best shows I've ever been to. | |

03.21.10 | Songs they didn't play that I wish they would've:
- Map of the Problematique
- Take A Bow
- Citizen Erased (didn't hold my breath for this one, though)
- Bliss
- Hypermusic
- Apocalypse Please
- City of Delusion
But still, shit was absolutely amazing. I recommend anyone who has ever even been remotely interested in Muse to catch them live. | Forrestdwill
03.21.10 | Muse is flippin awesome live
I saw them open for U2, I went just to see MUSE, but I have not seen them as a headliner. Just extremely talented. I would love to go to a show were they jut play Absolution all the way through. | DaveyBoy
03.21.10 | I saw them live only 2 months ago & reading over this, I can't wait to see them live again.
I was one of those people jumping in unison to 'Time Is Running Out', but had to take a few seconds to look around and take in the sight. Awesome. Agree with the sentiments & reco to see them live if anybody hasn't as yet. | SHAKEandBAKE
03.21.10 | I saw them last week in Detroit and it was amazing. I was one of those lucky ones on the floor though haha. Also pissed they didn't Map of the Problematique. | theacademy
03.21.10 | weird i can never imagine silversun being a good live band... dude's voice is just so whimsical... good band tho... | Masochist
03.21.10 | They were surprising, academy, but considering they just had a generic light show, and the fact that they preceeded MUSE, you couldn't expect too, too much from them. Still, they were entertaining. And that guy's voice has strength in some songs.
"Map fo the Problematique" is the song I wish they'd've played most out of the ones they didn't play. | OhAliceMonster
03.21.10 | what a good show that mustve been | Masochist
03.21.10 | It was, mainly because of Muse, though Silversun Pickups being the opener was the reason I was as interested in the show as I was. | red0
03.27.10 | I saw them in Houston, instead of MK Ultra we got Map of the Problematique and Guiding Light. Fantastic concert, the chrod was freaking nuts.
Oh, and the Jam Session was called Man With a Harmonica. | Masochist
03.27.10 | Lucky guy! "MK Ultra" is awesome, no doubt, but "Map of the Problematique" would've been absolutely AMAZING to hear, IMO. I like it so much...it's such a subtle song for Muse, especially on 'Black Holes...' |
