Explaining Some Of My 5's

why i have these at 5/5.
1Bad Brains
Bad Brains

Aside from being arguably the best hardcore punk album ever, it was one of my first actual tastes that the genre had to offer me. Even the Reggae songs on it are great, and add that depth to their sound that makes it uniquely theirs. one of my all time favorites.
2Kamelot
Epica

I love me some Power Metal. Good storytelling is a must in the genre, and this album delivers. it is a concept album that continues over onto The Black Halo (who countless others regard as better than this one) but the story is so consuming, at least to me. its a modern day opera, where all the musical arrangements accompany what is going on in the story along with the lyrics (look at the wiki for the 2 albums). the vast expanses of grasping this album has made it as much of a joy to listen to, as it was to find out and pick up every little meaning in between.
3Tiger Army
II: Power of Moonlite

Although I am a huge fan of all their albums, II: Power of Moonlite is my favorite album by Tiger Army. the tipping point? it has my favorite songs to play bass to, and that makes me enjoy it more than the others.
4John Mayer
Continuum

I really like John Mayer. I have been a fan since he first hit it big with Room For Squares. Why this is a 5 is mainly because it was so unlike the other stuff i had heard from him, that at first, i was pushed away from it (like when i was first listening to the always open mouth by Fear Before). after trying to soak his newer influences in, i fell in love with it entirely. He grew up, in a way, and it really translated well into this album. His work in John Mayer Trio is just as great.
