LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	I've got to really watch my bye weeks, because I had no choice but to pick some guys who have the same bye weeks. I'm going to do some trading and finagling before the season starts in hopes of picking up some more bench help, but overall I think I have a pretty solid team.

LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	It's a small league(only 10). It's me and 2 of my good friends and a bunch of new people whom we had to invite in. Apparently, 4 out of the 7 people we invited in have never been serious about fantasy football.

Apollo 07.27.10	I thoroughly enjoy watching football. I just don't fully understand the concept of the fantasy football league thing. My dad always tried to get me into football when I was younger and I never liked it, but the last few years living on my own I love watching it. Considering getting cable so I can watch this upcoming season.

BigHans 07.27.10	QBs are usually the highest scorers in the leagues I play in, so having one of the top 5 is key.
LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	QB's are middle of the road in the league I play in. You always want to grab top tier receivers and back with your first 4 or 5 picks, and then go grab everything else.

Inveigh 07.27.10	my draft's not for another two weeks, but it's a ridiculous tilt towards QB play (you can start two, average QB gets 19.8 points per week, whereas the average RB gets only 13.8). The dude who set it up made it 20 passing yards and 20 rushing yards are 1 point, rather than having it at 10 rushing yards (which is totally unfair) and also made passing TDs, rushing TDs and receiving TDs all the same (also unfair). The reason I say unfair is because it's a keeper league that I joined last year, and my starting QBs were Brady Quinn and Jake Delhomme, where as the guy who makes the rules has had Brady and Brees for 4 years. LOL at least there's not money on it.
LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	I think Romo's moved beyond the "choke artist" label(this will be the year he does it, and if he can't do it, he never will). I also think they will rise above the Phillip's Factor and do this year what they have been saying they would have done the past couple of years.

LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	20 yards for 1 point? That's ridiculous! Passing, rushing, and receiving TD's should all be different point totals. Ugh, ridiculous. We start one QB, 3 backs, 3 receivers, a tight end, a defense, and a kicker. QB's tend to be the lowest scoring skill position(minus tight end), while backs and wide outs tend to win you games.

Zoo 07.27.10	I usually never take a kicker until the very last round. Having a top flight K is always nice, but I don't buy into the statement that they can win or lose a week for you more than a QB, RB, or WR. The fantasy point gap between the #1 K (Kaeding) and the #10 K (Reed) was just 30 points but for the QB's it was 108, RB's: 149, and WR's: 42. I like the receivers obviously but you have some serious depth problems at RB. If MJD ever gets injured, you could be in trouble. Since Cadillac is actually starting, it'll be more beneficial to start him instead of Jones since he'll probably on see 8-10 touches a game (although some will be goal line carries) with Charles carrying most of the load.

I think the playoff win last year sparked him(of course he didn't have any O-Line help against Minny), and I think the edition of Dez Bryant will be a HUMONGOUS bonus for him. Plus, Felix Jones will become the premier back for the Cowboys, making it easier on Romo to pass because they won't be able to play off the line anymore. Sup Balls? You see the Miami love in my draft?

BigHans 07.27.10	I know Nick but regardless of what Romo has around him it all comes down to his moxie, which I dont believe he has. Sure the o-line was cracking against Minny, but Romo pretty much went into the fetal position and died, jsut like he did in the second half of the 08 NFC title game against NYG. He was clearly, and I mean clearly skittish. The greats say FUCK YOU to the blitz.

I'm going to try and make a trade for a Marion Barber(his red zone percentage is off the charts, making him a big time scorer in my league) or another goal line bruiser.

And yes, the greats do say fuck you to the blitz, but do you know what helps them become one of the greats? An O-Line that protects them and doesn't crumple when Jared Allen decides to rage. Aikman was like Romo before he got his O-Line, and look what he turned into.

How about the 08 season finale against Philly, to decide who would go to the playoffs, and they got blown out by 40. I'm telling you, he lacks the balls the true great QBs do. LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	As a guy who used to dream about being involved in pro sports one way or another, Fantasy Football is as close to the real thing as I am going to get. Personally, I think I could be a GM for a pro football or baseball team, but again, that might be stretching it a bit.

Inveigh 07.27.10	Marion Barber is one of my 4 keepers from that shit team I inherited last year. QBs are what you need, but since I ended the year with Bulger and Matt Moore, I chose to keep Barber, Calvin Johnson, Ryan Longwell and the Jets defense lol

Inveigh 07.27.10	I had it in both of my leagues last year, in one I had the Jets and the Colts (which was surprisingly awesome due to sacks and ints) and in the other I had Jets and Giants.

LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	I just wanted Barber because I know he can be good as a starter in a pinch. The Cowboys are saying they'll use him more in goal-line and short yardage situations rather than him being a full-time back, so he'll rack up the fantasy points in first downs and touchdowns.

BigHans 07.27.10	Pit, I know the flaws in the team, and they are glaring. Yes, I am a pessimist. Probably due to the fact Dallas has won exactly one playoff game in the last 14 years.
LaCosaNostra13 07.27.10	I've been a lifelong cowboys fan(not more than the Dolphins, though), and I've been disappointed year in, year out since 1996. However, I think this is the best team that we've had since then, despite Coach Cupcake. If they can overcome Cupcake's shortcomings and Romo can continue to build the confidence from last year, this could be a pretty damn good team. Plus, Miles Austin's a beast, Felix Jones, when healthy, is a speed demon, Dez Bryant's my candidate for rookie of the year(was before he was drafted), and the defense should be much more solid. Plus, Ware's completely healthy, and has been pushing harder than ever to become a beast of a pass rusher he was supposed to be.

On paper, they are arguably the most loaded team in the league. The problems, which I do not see being fixed any time soon, are what you alrady mentioned. IF they can overcome Coach Cupcake. Well, what if they cant? What if Romo gets the deer in headlights face again in crunch time? Great teams are solid, consistant, and play with heart. The Cowboys, with the exception of a few very noteworthy players, are not this as a whole. That has been their downfall, and unless Phillips suddenly turns into Parcells, it will be again.

LaCosaNostra13 07.28.10	To be honest, Marshall was the 10th best rated player by ESPN and was the best available at the time. I agree with the rating, and I think he's poised to really turn it on, because Henne is the perfect QB for a big receiver like that. It all depends on what henne does, though. Thomas Jones was a risk, I agree, however he was the best player available in the draft. I needed another starting RB, and he was right there, so I scooped him up.
