Outkast Ranked

I've been listening to loads of Outkast lately, they're awesome. This list is basically what it says it is, my favourite Outkast albums - in order.
1Outkast
Aquemini

I find this album difficult to describe. It's a movement away from their harsher hip-hop and into the Prince influenced stuff they were doing. Weirdly though, the band don't really sacrifice any element of their sound whatsoever in creating this masterpiece, it's still funky, dirty, hilarious as usual, and because of that, it succeeded - a true testament to the talent of Outkast. Amazing.
2Outkast
Stankonia

Pretty frequently described as their best album; it is amazing, and very few of the tracks disappoint. This is Outkast's move into the big time, with Ms. Jackson, B.O.B. and So Fresh, So Clean ranking amongst the albums singles, how the fuck could it not break them into the big time?
3Outkast
Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

This album is so funky and dirty. Even the skits and the interludes are hilarious and unmissable. The album pretty much helped to create, define and popularize a Southern Hip Hop movement. For that reason alone - a truly classic debut album.

Speakerboxxx

I used to love the Love Below album, but I feel like I really missed the Big Boi side out. I listened to it recently and it's more of the same from him - breakneck rapping, overtly lewd innuendos, and amazingly funny tracks. The Way You Move still rocks my world.
5Outkast
ATLiens

This was the first Outkast album I got. I didn't like it for a long time, mainly because I was more interested in hearing their hits. As I re-listen now I can sort of see what a stupid viewpoint that was for me. This is packed full of mental, ridiculous and ultimately very good funky hip-hop. The 14 year old me is kicking himself
6 Outkast
The Love Below

Simply because this album is 6th out of 7, doesn't mean it's bad. The opposite - I absolutely love it. There are loads of standouts (Spread, Behold a Lady, Hey Ya!, Roses, Dracula's Wedding), but it sort of feels let down by a lot of long skits which don't really do anything for me. Plus, when Big Boi makes an appearance on this, spitting gatling gun fire rhymes, he kinda makes a mockery of Andre's sincere and well thought out efforts.
7Outkast
Idlewild

This was always going to be 7th, as predictable as it may seem. This is still a great album though, at times though it just seems like the amazing MCing has been marginalized in favour of Stevie Wonder esque feats of songwriting. Not cool bro.
