Best Of So Far 2010

Revised list of what I, personally, have listened to and enjoyed the most this year.
15Broken Social Scene
Forgiveness Rock Record

Besides \"Texico Bitches\" being among the best songs of the year, this CD just can\'t help but tickle the
fancy of anyone interested in alternative music. In fact, music like this sucked me in and away from radio
altogether.
14 Maps & Atlases
Perch Patchwork

Folksy and off tempo; but extremely listenable. Had a good friend point this one out and it grows on me during listens and simply when im
humming the songs in my head.
13 Surfer Blood
Astrocoast

Somehow i hear a mix of the eighties, nineties, and 00\\\'s all wrapped up in an insanely catchy record.
12Portugal. The Man
American Ghetto

This album has you in one of those great cornered-into-listening-to-whole-thing snags. Portugal fans have no excuse to not love it; and it is
very likely the best place to start for new listeners of this incredible prolific group of rockers.
11The Black Keys
Brothers

Unbelievable soul; perfect musicianship, and lyrics that everyone can latch onto while bringing meaning
from the album to their personal lives.
10MGMT
Congratulations

I love everything here. The flow is much better than their first; and, aside from being probably the best
fuck you to critics ever, this is happy and inspiring music.
9Charlotte Gainsbourg
IRM

Beck and the girl from Science of Sleep come out of nowhere and blow everyone\\\\\\\'s minds. Very psychedelic.
8Vampire Weekend
Contra

So eclectic; so Vampire Weekend. Does not sound like a sophomore effort; rather a genuine original.
7Philip Selway
Familial

Uh oh. I know I\'m a Radiohead fanatic but i could hear Selway\\\'s solo on the radio on a different planet
somewhere in deep space and be brought to tears. Beautiful music.
6Spoon
Transference

So gritty, catchy, and seemingly effortless. Every listen enhances flavor.
5Broken Bells
Broken Bells

Danger Mouse is a genius and has found his band. Mercer\\\'s vocals are stellar throughout; and I just get
kinda giddy listening to the end. Especially with that fucking perfect ending.
4Local Natives
Gorilla Manor

Unbelievably catchy without trying hard to do so. Great arrangements from start to finish.
3Gorillaz
Plastic Beach

Absolute ear candy. Damon Albarn is one of the best examples of someone who loves having fun with music.
2LCD Soundsystem
This Is Happening

Gets better and better and better; not afraid to say something and party at the same time. pow Pow POw
POW!!!!
1Caribou
Swim

Still appeals to just about anyone; restores my faith in electronic music as it creates an atmosphere of real
sounds. Caribou is likely the most diverse and creative act out there, and any fan of originality ought to seek this out and listen to it on
headphones. And the fact that it debuted on 4/20 is just too awesome.
