So while the line "fond but not in love" refers to societies tendancies to look at falling in love as a bad thing it also pertains to my fear of intimacy. Thus radiohead is able to make the lyrical "double kill" |

However, in this case, the lyrics would relate especially to someone with such a fear of intimacy.
