Albums that got me into music when I was an angsty teen. I don't really listen to them any more, nor love them as much as I used to, but they get props for leading me further into music. Without them I wouldn't have found Sputnik and spent my time writing this list while listening to ATDI. Some might consider them shameful, but to each his own. So what started your angst-ridden teenage musical interests? | 1 | | Linkin Park Hybrid Theory
Probably my most played album ever. Seeing these guys live soon, purely to satisfy the 12 year old in me. Still good for a spin every now and then. | 2 | | Martin O' Donnell Halo 2, Vol. 2 OST
Yep, I was a halo addicted teen too. Music was pretty good for being in a video game. | 3 | | Bullet For My Valentine The Poison
Probably the only band on here I can't listen to anymore, not even for nostalgia. There's just something irksome about them. Still, album is by far their best. | 4 | | Evanescence Fallen
Uncle gave me this album, absolutely loved it at the time. Nice, simple fun music, even if it is a tad commercial. | 5 | | Killswitch Engage As Daylight Dies
I really can't listen to much post-AOJB Killswitch these days, but back in the day I loved these guys. My Curse is still nice for a spin every now and then. | 6 | | DragonForce Inhuman Rampage
WOOOOO! I had this album stuck on repeat for many, many months. Got my love of DragonForce off my older cousin who loved two things: Warcraft and Power Metal. Not a good combination. | 7 | | Disturbed Ten Thousand Fists
I can still stand a few songs off this, surprisingly, even if it was a bit less mature than Indestructible. Also had this stuck on repeat. | 8 | | Limp Bizkit Three Dollar Bill Y'all
I used to love Fred Durst. Now, not so much. But nostalgia's a bitch, and sometimes Counterfeit, Pollution, and especially Everything find their way onto my ipod listening roster. Everything is underrated. | 9 | | Dio Holy Diver
Good album, even if I don't love it as much as I used to nowadays. But I'm still a little Rainbow in the Dark. Who's with me!? | 10 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
This album pretty much marks the end of my angsty teen phase and the beginning of the rest of my life. Album pretty much inspired me to pick up the bass. | |

10.23.10 | I don't get it, you're going to see Linkin Park to satisfy the 12 yo in you. Why do people keep on rejecting stuff they've liked, as if they were ashamed of having listened to it. you like it or you never truly have. | geng
10.23.10 | I don't think there's many people who weren't into 1 at some stage. | Strider
10.23.10 | I've never been into 1 as much as most people, but I enjoy listening to it sometimes. | Butkuiss
10.23.10 | Actually, I do like Linkin Park to this day. What I meant by that comment was that I've wanted to see them live ever since I was 12. I'm not ashamed of having listened to any of these at all really; like I said-if it wasn't for them then I wouldn't be here, even if my interests do lie elsewhere these days. | Strider
10.23.10 | Yeah I see, I'm still into 3 a lot even if I listen to other stuff since I'm here. | Butkuiss
10.23.10 | 3 was really cool back in the day, and I still consider it their best, even if I'm not really into it these days. I don't think the fact that I overplayed it to the extremes, and that it brings back rather unpleasant memories helps too much in that factor though. But I still actively listen to 1 and 6 and 10. Great albums, all of them. | Strider
10.23.10 | I still listen to 1, 3, 4, 5 and 10 | seifer

10.23.10 | OH WHATS BECOMING OF ME?!
RIDE THE TIGER, YOU CAN SEE HIS STRIPES BUT YOU KNOW HES CLEAN | BeardedIdiot
10.23.10 | 1 was probably the first album I have heard in full length. Before that - single songs. pretty lame.
Still like 5 and 9, though not listening as much as I used to | Baphomet
10.23.10 | I can relate to 1 and 5.
Also, mandatory "ewww Dragonforce" comment. | Oceans
10.23.10 | Warcraft and Powermetal is THE COMBINATION. | nychicano
10.23.10 | What the f is Dio doing on this list? you effing pig loving momma's boy. | Masochist
10.23.10 | Eminem's first three major albums helped bring out the ansty white boy in me. | OvrotLivesAgain
10.23.10 | What the f is Dio doing on this list? you effing pig loving momma's boy [2]
and fuck everyone, I love dragonforce | Butkuiss
10.24.10 | Dio is on here because I acquired his album during my metalcore phase after hearing Holy Diver on As Daylight Dies. I pretty much got into traditional heavy and power metal through Dio. Rest assured though, I still love the guy, and his musical output.
And I'm not afraid to admit it. Sonic Firestorm and Inhuman Rampage are awesome to chill to on the bus. DragonForce still hold a large part of my heart. |
