| Top Ten Sesame Street Songs
you don't know how long i've been wanting to make this list. tried to make a good balance of the classics and the not-so classics, along with three honorable mentions. | 13 | i was going to include honorable mentions | 12 | but these are quite enough | 11 | katy perry (feat. elmo) hot n cold
except this | 10 | Little Chrissy Eight Balls of Fur
Little Chrissy had a long and fruitful career fronting his band Little Chrissy and the Alphabeats and produced hits such as "You're Alive" and "Rock and Roll Readers," but none of their material quite matched what he would release as a solo artists. Here he gives possibly the most impressive live performance in Sesame Street history, breaking his piano while singing about balls of fur. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWiuQoQ6nc4&feature=related | 9 | Jerry and the Monotones Telephone Rock
Possibly the best Sesame Street band ever (I've been tempted many times to add them to the Sputnik database), Little Jerry and the Monotones consisted of Jerry, Little Richie, Medium Bill, and Big Jeffy and made their major label debut with Mad/Sad, an album of songs solely about feelings. They got a bit more creative from there, breaking into the mainstream with huge hits "Telephone Rock," "Mountain of Love," and "Danger." While these are all equally quality, the performance of the first in a telephone booth is hard to match. (p.s. they would later reunite and release the song "When You Move the Mouse, it Makes the Arrow Go," but that sucked balls). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK30qJLeKPM | 8 | Kermit & Friends Get Along
Kermit's appearance on Sesame Street were always very interesting, but "Get Along" was a particular highlight. A capella and featuring just about everything, the song is a happy, feel-good tribute to friendship, and features a fucking badass cow solo. Yes cow solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3Pliz2UUD4&feature=related | 7 | The Cobble Stones (I Can't Get No) Cooperation
The Cobble Stones were a very short-lived band, only putting out this one song, but what a song it was. Who knows how the world would've been changed had they stuck together. Also one of the best parodies ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OrA29X6F0U | 6 | Grover, Herry and Cookie Monster (feat. Frazzle) Fuzzy and Blue
Unbeknown to most, Grover, Herry and Cookie Monster teamed up briefly for a blue-oriented supergroup back in the day. It was a huge success, producing this massive hit in which the former two carry the tune, while Cookie Monster's performance takes the song to a whole new level. This live performance also features a guest appearance from Frazzle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhKV-2l7tMM | 5 | Oscar I Love Trash
This is probably ranked a little low for its classic-ness, but it really is great. One of the few times Oscar got to showcase his terribly off-key yet somewhat endearing singing voice (think of a Chuck Mosley type. just kidding), singing about his one true love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxgWHzMvXOY | 4 | Count Von Count Lambaba
A massively underrated artist, The Count only really got recognition for his slower ballads and waltzes, e.g. his snooze-worthy ode to the Countess, "Count Up to Nine." This kept this feisty cut from getting the recognition it deserved-- a rowdy number where all kinds of lambs and various animals infiltrate the Count's room, resulting in some sort of massive, multi-species orgy. The amazing part? He sings it all while lying down in his bed. What an artist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wx__mJvy_QU&feature=related | 3 | Ernie Rubber Ducky, You're the One
Another classic. Ernie really didn't get his fair share of songs for the amount of talent he had, but what did it matter as long as he had "Rubber Ducky, You're the One." If anyone didn't sing along to this as a child, they are deprived. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh85R-S-dh8 | 2 | Cookie Monster C is for Cookie
There is nothing that can possibly be said about this. A classic beyond classics that can never be tarnished even with the addition of new song "Cookie is a Sometimes Food," which is a load of shit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye8mB6VsUHw | 1 | Grover Monster in the Mirror
The lovable, furry blue monster's defining moment. Grover had several albums full of hits-- "Proud of Me" and "Over, Under, Around and Through," for example-- but none of them ever quite measured up to "Monster in the Mirror," with its rousing chorus of "Wubba wubba wubba and a doodaly doo!" The hit would spawn several remakes featuring various celebrities alongside Grover, but none ever quite measured up to the original. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNMwRH5UGYY | |

11.02.10 | dotcommy- "near and far," while a great song, bears a striking resemblance to "over, under, around and through." grover really lost some creativity points when he released those two. | Dotcommy
11.02.10 | I'll accept that | PuddlesPuddles
11.02.10 | are you serious 3 should be 1. TROLL | Romulus

12.20.10 | This should have been frickin' featured man. | Romulus
12.20.10 | dude i know the count is so underrated. and nag it must have been the outrage of having grover in the #1 spot but really, what would you expect from me? | Nagrarok
12.20.10 | I would have expected nothing less. 10, 9, 6 and 4 were the funniest ones. I just looked up a few of the songs, that's some good stuff, 1 is a classic for sure. I need more Sesame Street in my life, I'm amazed I'm only discovering all these fantastic bands right now. The Dutch version of SS didn't have all these artistically accomplished songs... | vanderb0b
12.20.10 | Yeah, he was great. You've got Lambaba on here, so it's all good. | Romulus
12.20.10 | seriously? that's such a shame, the creativity level of sesame street back in the day was really incredible. sad that it's watered down so much today | Nagrarok
12.20.10 | It must have been sad seeing your favourite groups sell out like that. | Romulus
12.20.10 | it was heartbreaking man. the jerry and the monotones reunion was one of the saddest moments on the show | Nagrarok
12.20.10 | It's that you have only 31 reviews... but Best of Grover would be such a damn good 50th. | Romulus
12.20.10 | if i ever reach 50 reviews, which doesn't seem likely at my current rate, the best of grover would definitely be my first choice. since it's gonna take ages though i'd offer it up to anyone who wants to become my favorite user of all time | Nagrarok
12.20.10 | Point is... you're the only one who could possibly write an awesome review on it. So hurry up and get to that 50! | Nagrarok
12.21.10 | No pressure though. | Romulus
