theacademy 01.03.11	@crowing he doesn't seem as smart or distinguished as dr. house. he also doesn't seem as tragically flawed. pissed off characters are usually good for cheap funnies, but without much more there's no reason to watch. also, the fact that you would have to sit through entire episodes of scrubs to enjoy the character = totally not fucking worth it. Scrubs is basically tyler perry television shows, except instead of being made for african american audiences, scrubs is made for dumb people.

Of course the show doesn't revolve around him and it was only 30min episodes but the fleshed out the character as best they could. I can see people liking or disliking either. I happen to like both.

AggravatedYeti 01.03.11	ya scrubs is a lot more clever than you're giving it credit for Academy. Though I'd say the biggest difference between the two characters is simple. House is the series main character, thus he's a lot more fleshed out and furthermore a bit more bizarre as to keep viewers intrigued about his personality and history. Cox is a lot more realistic--mostly because of the desired genre Scrubs fits into--though he is quite tragically flawed (problems with any religion, his violent upbringing, struggles with being a father-figure, issues with co-workers, et el...) House I'd say, on paper, is the more interesting character. But Cox I've always felt more of a connection to as he seems more innately human than House. Yet House always seems to focus on the Dr.'s struggles with not being 'part of the norm' whereas Cox is constantly trying to downplay the fact that he's a square peg fitting into a square hole as much as he'd love to believe he's a circle trying to stuff itself in. In reality he fits quite well but hates it point is both the shows are flawed but compulsively watchable imo.

MrLR 08.03.14	You comparing 2 shows that in 1, is based on 1 character so, yeah obviously your going to see pretty much the same endings and behavior re-occur, but that is because scrubs is not called Dr.Cox or ''Cox'' because if it was; 1. You would see Perry watching sports center and drinking scotch at the end of every episode and moaning about how he was beaten as a child and, 2. It would probably be on an adult channel due to the name of the show, were not many people would be able to watch it, leaving House the champion. And for the actual records, He did not copy Cox, he was based of a very intelligent, anti-social genius , Sherlock Holmes.
