MUNGOLOID
01.26.11 | Don't you realize while the movie is decent, it's a bit too jumbled and messy?
well, that's part of what makes it good. |
Kiran
01.26.11 | liking a movie for being clever doesn't mean people like it because they want to be clever
i think memento is a terrific movie and it's not because i adore it on some sort of intellectual pedestal |
Satellite
01.26.11 | the main problem with memento is HOW THE FUCK DID THE GUY KNOW HE SUFFERED FROM SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS IF HE COULDN'T CREATE NEW MEMORIES? |
theacademy
01.26.11 | the prestige > memento; the dark knight > all of them |
Satellite

WhiteNoise
01.26.11 | He isn't even that good > |
MUNGOLOID
01.26.11 | without it being all messy and jumbled, the movie would've just been a plain old unmemorable mystery movie. |
ARuinedEmpire
01.26.11 | The prestige should be number 1, i'm convinced. |
qwe3
01.26.11 | You pitchfork rejects are pathetic |
BassDemon333
01.26.11 | The Dark Knight and Inception are tied for my favorite, but Dark Knight probably wins. Such an amazing film. |

01.26.11 | "the main problem with memento is HOW THE FUCK DID THE GUY KNOW HE SUFFERED FROM SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS IF HE COULDN'T CREATE NEW MEMORIES?"
This comes up in EVERY DAMN THREAD related to the movie.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/faq#.2.1.6
"Don't you realize while the movie is decent, it's a bit too jumbled and messy?"
Hardly. The Dark Knight is much more so.
Memento = Inception
The Dark Knight
Insomnia
Batman Begins (ugh Katie Holmes)
The Prestige
Following |
qwe3
01.26.11 | the prestige sucked pretty hard |
dancierthan4
01.26.11 | i didn't think it sucked, i just found it a bit slow. dark knight, memento and inception are the best three.
|
TheAlmightyBungler
01.26.11 | please go to film school with me.
inception was confusing but pretty, memento was incredible and also pretty, haven't seen dark knight in years
as for the Dark Knight Rises........ Anne Hathaway as catwoman............ maybe. |
AggravatedYeti
01.26.11 | list is 100% on.
and Nolan was horrendously snubbed : ( |
KILL
01.26.11 | memento was fucking amazing |
foreverendeared
01.26.11 | Batman Begins is way better than The Dark Knight. true story. Insomnia is pretty underrated. I like Momento, but not nearly as much as The Prestige. |
Kiran
01.26.11 | i dont know anything about the comics or whatever people cite when they talk about the 'source' stuff and im probably gonna be proved wrong when the movie comes out but tim burton and halle berry have led me to believe catwoman totally sucks
tom hardy is awesome though, so theres that |
AggravatedYeti
01.26.11 | Tim Burton lead you to believe that? wtf Pfeiffer was great. |
AngelofDeath
01.26.11 | Dark Knight was amazing. Only slightly better than Batman Begins. Inception was the best thing to come out in 2010, and I doubt it has any chance of winning best film. |
Dried Muffin Remnants
01.26.11 | memento, the prestige, inception, batman begins and the dark knight were all fantastic...
some of the other "younger directors" who are great are fincher and aronofski....
as far as your random list... I loved MBV - Loveless because the layered/heavily distorted guitars set a beautiful mood...so I'm sure I'd like that album as well. Pretty much anything from Radiohead is brilliant. And Endtroducing is just a perfect album all the way through. Good list. |
TheAlmightyBungler
01.26.11 | Tom Hardy's gonna be great if he's going for violent, which, come on, we all know he will be, 'SPECIALLY cause he's doing Bane. still only seen bits and pieces of Bronson, but SHEEEEE-IT, man
and hey, if it's any consolation, Aronofsky's nominated... |
patroneyes
01.26.11 | "Memento = Inception"
not a chance |
MUNGOLOID
01.27.11 | "Batman Begins is way better than The Dark Knight. true story."
no fucking way man. |
ninjuice
01.27.11 | "the prestige sucked pretty hard"
Maybe in the same universe that Mass Effect does.
Memento is his Pulp Fiction people.
Top 2 or you're a sad person. |
qwe3
01.27.11 | the prestige was a boring, overlong, overstuffed movie. the two characters had no depth and i grew to strongly dislike both of them. it outclevered itself, which i suppose is an achievement, because it really wasn't even that clever
haven't seen memento, but i want to. dark knight was great. inception is probably his best |
acorncheese
01.27.11 | Top 3: Inception>Dark Knight>Prestige
Fucking loved The Prestige. Liked Memento but didn't love it. |
Romulus
01.27.11 | memento was cool but it got a little predictable by the end. enjoyed it but wasn't like blown away |
SeaAnemone
01.27.11 | literally in the middle of watching memento for the first time right now it's good |
couldwinarabbit
01.27.11 | The prestige was alright. The best part was the credits though. |
foreverendeared
01.27.11 | Yeah, I'd have to say:
The Prestige
Batman Begins
Inception
Memento
The Dark Knight
Insomnia |
qwe3
01.27.11 | sif the prestige was that good guys wtfffffffff |

01.27.11 | Memento sucks ass... |
foreverendeared
01.27.11 | lol |
Eclectic
01.27.11 | Everybody puts the dark knight on a pedestal, but I find it to be overrated. For sure I liked it, within the superhero genre its amazing, but its not the masterpiece people keep lauding it as.
My main issues?
The tired action cliches scattered throughout, like this exchange between Gordon and Dent
G: "I'm sorry"
D: "No you're not... not yet."
The scene where we first meet Dent, in the court room when he disarms the witness, was unintentionally hilarious.
Lucius' overreaction to the mobile radar. That whole scene could have been easily cut to this:
"If this machine is here, I won't be"
"I was planning on destroying it anyway"
"Oh... OK then."
That whole "he put his faith in Batman and it was rewarded" idea was not necessary, it only pushed the boundaries of the "no rules" idea, which was tenuous in the first place. |
