Jethro42
02.13.11 | Thanks Pizz, man! Gimme a link of your project and I'll surely take a look at it.
@Nag;
omg I have all my Black Sabbath below 4.5, shame on me, isn't it. Thanks for showing me your 5'd, even if I already know them pretty well. |

02.13.11 | How do you guys manage to listen to so many albums...? I only have like 270++ ratings... |

02.13.11 | How do you guys manage to listen to so many albums...? I only have like 270++ ratings...
It is a matter of age and madness for music, my friend Irving :) |
Jethro42
02.13.11 | @Pizz; your stuff is a woofer's cleaner, really. Do you work for a part II?
@Aids; Thanks for the rec. Looks like something I might enjoy.
@Nag; I had to toss a coin for some of these. Wich one you disagree the most? |
scissorlocked
02.13.11 | it's also a matter of how you define "listening" to an album. It's easy to just stream some shit and then rate it. |
greg84
02.13.11 | Unsurprisingly very proggy list! Especially mad props for Gentle Giant and Rush.
You should include Dogman. It's one of my all time faves. |
Irving
02.13.11 | "It is a matter of age and madness for music, my friend Irving :)"
ARE YOU GUYS 500 MILLION YEARS OLD!?!?!! *look of awe* |
Voivod
02.13.11 | No man. In fact, I'm 32 and have 700-800 albums in my collection. Collecting since the age of 12. |
Jethro42
02.13.11 | @Irving; It is a matter of age and madness for music, my friend Irving :)[2]
@Voivod and @scissorlocked; Thanks guys. And I agree with your last opinion scissorlocked. I for myself know thoroughly each and every one of my 5'd, and most of them since couple of decades =] |
Nagrarok
02.13.11 | 5: I'd replace Black Night with either Highway Star or Smoke on the Water
6: Almost everything here is a classic, so you really can't go wrong, but my picks would probably be Dreams, and The Chain as well.
16: Vert instead of l'Automne
21: One listen I like 21st Century Schizoid best, then Epitaph, the other time The Court, changes all the time.
24: Stairway to Heaven instead of Misty Mountain (though I definitely love that one)
29: Red Rain (looove that song) & Sledgehammer
30: Wish You Were Here rather than Have a Cigar
39: School, Hide in Your Shell (the part where they do the backing vocals during the chorus is still hilarious) & Rudy (can't pick two here)
41: Come Together as well, and Here Comes the Sun
44: Siberian Khatru over And You and I, by a very, very slight margin since all three tracks are bloody amazing
The others I either agree with or don't have two particular favourites. |

02.13.11 | soooooooo much prog |

02.13.11 | @Jethro42: I know what you mean, especially 5'd albums have reached there for that reason

Irving
02.13.11 | @ Voivod and Jethro: Ah, I see. In that case, I still have lots of music to catch up on then; but trust me, I'm trying! =) |
Jethro42
02.13.11 | @Greg thanks bro. So you dig Gentle Giant? Whoa man you never told me about it. I know them since the day I started to listen to prog. So looong time ago héhéhéhé annnd I'll look at what I can do with Dogman wich is at a 4.5/5 atm.
@Voivod; wow dude, I wouldn't have enough of a lifetime to listen to half of your collection!!! |
Jethro42
02.13.11 | @Irving; Discovering new music is not supposed to be a heavy task, it's more like a pleasure, really. D'accord?
@Nag; I agree with the majority of your calls here. Only taking 2 songs of each is not always easy. |
mallen-
02.13.11 | Lots of great choices here Jethro. Personally I'd have Carpet Crawlers for 10 and probably Songbird for 6 |
bungy
02.13.11 | Oh yes gonna chill and listen to all these tonight |
Jethro42
02.13.11 | @Mike; Excellent calls. Carpet Crawlers was actually a contender. Selecting only two songs for The Lamb is mission impossible |
greg84
02.13.11 | Yeah. As for Gentle Giant "Free Hand" is probably my favorite album given I haven't heard everything by them. The same goes with Rush. I definitely prefer Moving Pictures to the ones you have here though. |
Jethro42
02.14.11 | @Pizz; You're not forgotten don't worry. I can't wait to hear your second effort. ;)
@Greg; Free Hand is exactly my 3rd favourite. Along with Genesis and Supertramp, Gentle Giant are among the first prog act I've ever heard (wich means since 1977-78), and I quickly became a finished fan. Here's a couple of essential GG songs;

02.14.11 | We have five 5's in common |
Nagrarok
02.14.11 | Haha, I just checked and I share 7 5's with both Jethro and you. |
Jethro42
02.14.11 | That's fine, but there is room for improvement.

02.14.11 | I have more 5's in common with Hans than anyone else I can think of, 13 to be exact. |
Jethro42
02.14.11 | I for myself have only 4 votes in common with Hans. Obviously, if he wasn't so anti-prog, it would make a difference. Also, if I counted correctly, Hans 5'd more than 115 albums and out of them, he only got one or two Pink Floyd and one or two Rush. I think that prog rock don't love Hans. Oh well. |
greg84
02.14.11 | And you have no common 5s with me. Oh well. |
Jethro42
02.14.11 | hahaha Really? omg It can't be for real!!! Let me see what I can do. |
