05.07.11 | Well it turns out that I dont even know 20 albums lol. Oh well. Recs needed! |
Captain North
05.07.11 | What, do you buy all your albums then? No doubt Vooligan will come in with a big list of suggestions soon enough, but check out Cog even though I don't like them. |
Firestarter
05.07.11 | Yeah I buy most of my music if its from relatively small artists. I just feel wrong stealing music from really good struggling bands lol |

05.07.11 | theres no way karnivool couldnt have been no. 1 |
Firestarter
05.07.11 | Yeah that album is phenomenal, in my top 10 of all time for sure. Needless to say I cant get into Butterfly Effect |
Captain North
05.07.11 | TBE are amazing, Imago is their best album though. Sound Awake...ergh. Themate beats it to the ground and then some. |
Chrisjon89
05.07.11 | I'm Australian and I've never really listened properly to Karnivool. Heard nothing but good things really. |
Firestarter
05.07.11 | Sound awake takes a long time to fully appreciate. It doesn't have quite the immediate appeal of themata but believe me when I say it's a monster of an album with lots of depth. Cant really get into the Butterfly effect, I've heard their second album is their best so I will give them another try when I get it. |
Consigliere
05.07.11 | Was about to get pissed off until i finally saw The Butterfly Effect at the end....best damn thing to come out of Australia, with Karnivool and Russell Crowe closely behind. |

05.07.11 | Get your 'wife-beaters' out!! (i'm glad some aussies will know what i mean) |
Butkuiss
05.07.11 | WHY IS THERE NO AC/DC!? I OUGHTA BEAT YOU WITH A SOCK FILLED WITH FROGS.
Nah. I heard a really good local band on community radio today, but I can't remember the name. Goddamnit. For any aussies out there/anyone who can stream it online, Sydney's 94.5 "FBI" channel is amazing. Everything from post-rock to hardcore to dubstep to comedy. I've found quite a few aussie gems, including Dead Letter Circus, on there.
Needs some Forgiven Rival-their old melodic rock-ish kind of stuff was pretty decent. |

05.07.11 | Spreading the local talent from the Disturbed tour are we? |
Butkuiss
05.07.11 | Nah, a mate spread the word to me about them way before that. They've changed so much. Must have been a lineup thing; back when they were a four-piece they were really melodic. Now they're a breakdown fest. Not that they're bad, we just got a shock seeing them live. :L
I mean, c'mon, I would've loved to hear this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Cx8xwP3EKg |

05.07.11 | Even after it was on the ticket? |
Vooligan
05.07.11 | Oooh yay, i love these lists.
Twelve Foot Ninja - Smoke Bomb (Funk/Electronic/Hard Rock)
Engine Three Seven - Atmosphere (Amazing alt rock band)
Sydonia - Given To Destroyers (Kinda like atmospheric rock mixed with heavy metal, amazing vocals)
[Me] - Naked (Think Queen crossed with Dead Letter Circus)
Black Devil Yard Boss - Black Devil Yard Boss (Blues rock, guitarist and drummer from Mammal)
Cog - The New Normal (Probably Australia's best prog/alt rock album, better than Sound Awake etc)
Floating Me - Floating Me (Drummer from Cog, Bassist from 'vool, huge vocals, intense, dark prog)
Helm - Vol. 1: Keelhaul (Think Karnivool mixed with post metal)
Jericco - Nice To See You (Better than Jericco's first EP)
Quiet Child - Evening Bell (Ridiculously amazing vocals.)
Sleep Parade - Things Can Always Change (Prog with electronic influence)
Trial Kennedy - New Manic Art (Catchy as hell pop rock with a twist)
sleepmakswaves - In Today Already Walks Tomorrow (amazing post rock band)
Eleventh He Reaches London - Hollow Be My Name (Just listen to this, its amazing. Words can't describe it)
Thousand Needles In Red - Thousand Needles In Red (Vocalist from TBE, its not that great though)

05.07.11 | Aussie pride!
Actually, Australia isn't a major distributor of super good music. It's sad, really (however, we did have one of the first punk bands, The Saints). |
Mordecai.
05.07.11 | Coerce |
Vooligan
05.07.11 | Oh fuck. How did i forget Coerce. Get their album 'Silver Tongued Life Licker,' too.
And Five Star Prison Cell - Matriarch (Australia's version of Dillinger Escape Plan.) |
Esky
05.07.11 | Parades? Not as heavy but probably the best local band I've caught live. Not a lot to get excited about on the local scene.
Personally not in love with them but Birds of Tokyo/Cog/Coerce/Floating Me are warrant mention too. |

05.07.11 | Cheers vooligan, Quiet Child sound pretty good, possibly Helm too.
Vooligan and others need to listen to:
Circles - upcoming release, fucking sick 'djent' riffs, powerful clean vocals, bit of electronic (listen to Act 3 or Clouds are Gathering)
The Third Ending - more traditional sort of prog rock, clean sound, very solid
Arcane - Chronicles of the Waking Dream - prog metal, sik vocals (may take getting used to), synths
