05.17.11 | Don't know anyone modern:
1) Ty Cobb (such a prick he has to be my number one)
2) Babe Ruth (So good he has to be my number 2)
3) Hank Aaron ( I choose him second for the social strives he made alone and he was a better player than Jackie Robinson)
4) Joe DiMaggio (One of the greatest players of all time and known by all of his contemporaries as a wonderful human being, during his time he was the face of baseball)
5) Pete Rose (he's not really 6 but he was great and an Ohio boy) |
acADHDemy
05.18.11 | insane how nobody has mentioned pujols
he's basically the only hitter in the game right now who is a privilege for any baseball fan to watch
like we, as fans, are luckier to be alive to watch Pujols play today than probably any other fans' in the history of baseball. Or maybe sports in general.
if 1/5 of any baseball team was comprised of pujols, he'd be baseball's Jordan...

PatchesOHoulihan
05.18.11 | Favorite players all time would have to be Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Lenny Dykstra, Jeff Conine, Andre Dawson, and Dave Winfield. Right now it's Gabys Sanchez, Josh Hamilton, Hunter Pence, and Adrian Gonzalez |

Josh D.
05.18.11 | There are no Astros from the 05 WS team left. After Berkman and Oswalt were dealt last year, that was it. Such a sad state of affairs now. Hopefully the new owner can shake things up (or at least get the farm system in order).
But Biggio, Bagwell (or just the Killer B's in general), Ryan, Joe Morgan, etc. Some good players in franchise history. |
Yazz_Flute
05.18.11 | Pablo Sanchez |
Josh D.
05.18.11 | "The Stros have a few quality pitchers."
That's a stretch. Wandy is only good at home (and sometimes still inconsistent), Myers is average at best basically. And that's really it. They have no closer, and without run support, all of their numbers won't be as good as they could be. |
PatchesOHoulihan
05.18.11 | FOR-EV-ER!
FOR-EV-ER! |
Josh D.
05.18.11 | And how could I forget Randy Johnson coming over in the 90's to finish the season with incredible numbers. That was one of their best teams ever. |
Yazz_Flute
05.18.11 | Ouch, didn't realize how bad Myers has been this year. I remember him pitching well in 2010. Bud Norris has the
strikeout working for him so far. |
PatchesOHoulihan
05.18.11 | @Josh D.- Bud Norris is going to be a stud. |
Josh D.
05.18.11 | Everyone says he has good stuff, but he just hasn't produced. |
PatchesOHoulihan
05.18.11 | @Josh D.- It's only his 2nd year in the league. I havent been able to pay attention this season so I really dont know whats going on. I was impressed with what I saw of him last year. |
Josh D.
05.18.11 | I've been able to pay attention, just haven't that much. He was supposed to be like Jason Castro a bit; young but productive. Castro was about to have his first full year behind the plate, but tore an ACL or something in pre-season, so he's done all year.
This year, he is 2-2, 3.42 ERA, 19 ER and 7 HR in 8 games. So he still has work to do. |
