Why I've Been Broke Lately

Everytime I step into a CD store, it seems like I'm picking up a new album. I need to stop/get a job. Or else somebody gonna get hurt, real bad.
1Anberlin
Cities

I bought it so I could give it to my lil bro, but I wound up keeping it. it's was an alright cd, but not exactly
my favorite.
2Bloc Party
A Weekend in the City

Another alright album. I just couldn't get into it, and didn't have a desire to listen to it multiple times. I
think I hyped it up too much. I was looking for fun, fast songs, pretty much an improved Silent Alarms,
but Weekend in the City wasnt it.
3 ISIS
In the Abscence of Truth

A friend wouldn't shut up about ISIS, and I'm glad he didn't stop whoring them. Awesome album, awesome
band. Now I don't stop bugging my other friends about ISIS
4Modest Mouse
We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank

My first real taste of Modest Mouse, and I really liked this album. 1st half was pretty damn catchy, and I
was pretty hooked to Modest Mouse's latest release. Good stuff, I'm thinking about getting some more
of their stuff...once I have money that is. It's a vicious cycle, man
5The John Butler Trio
Grand National

The JBT are pretty awesome, and I think they improved a lot on this released, when compared to their
previous effort, Sunrise Over Sea. If you guys haven't heard any JBT, this album would be a pretty good
place to start, as they stepped it up on their 07 release.
6Nine Inch Nails
Year Zero

This album was pretty freakin awesome! I was so addicted to Year Zero, and songs like The Good
Soldier, My Violent Heat and The Great Destroyer that I pretty much listened to this exclusively for 2
weeks. Now I'm kicking myself for not buying tickets to see NIN when they come to Sydney in May. Not
like I could afford it after all these CD's
7 Rastawookie
Perfectly Ordinary

I wouldn't be surprised if nobody's heard of these guys. A reggae band based in Sydney, they put a bit
of their South American flavor into some chilled out reggae tracks. But I really bought this cuz my
girlfriend wanted it (whipped!). I haven't really given it a chance, to be honest.
8Porcupine Tree
Fear of a Blank Planet

From the start, Steven Wilson had me hooked. My fav track off here might have to be Anesthesize. Good,
good stuff
9 Dream Theater
Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes From a Memory

This is actually the first DT album I've bought with my own money (lies, I picked up Live at Budokan. yea
I'm too lazy to go back and delete what i just typed). I got ToT off my drummer, and liked it a lot, and
when i first spun this record I was a little underwhelmed at first. I was expecting some dark,
atmospheric music and crushing riffs a la ToT, but as the album progressed I got more and more into
it. I'll definitely be spending more time with this beast.
10Coheed and Cambria
In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

Man, I love Coheed! I picked up this and #9 for ten bucks a pop, so I was like," you can't go wrong for
10 bucks" and then subsequently went to spend more money I don't have. I'm actually listening to this
right now (the Velorium Camper I: Faint of Hearts, and it's pretty bad ass), and I'm loving it. Easily one
of my favorite bands, I can't wait for their next release this fall.
