07.07.11 | BC Tip #1: Lyrics are not poetry, they are not meant to be descriptive. The best lyrics are generic but suggestive enough to induce the listener/reader to a prescribe mode of thinking. That way only the contextual listeners/readers will get what you are really trying to say while the literal listeners/readers will fall for your suggestiveness. |

07.07.11 | Hmm I do that, normally they turn metaphorical quickly. It's strange to actually TRY and write something though, normally it just comes on its own. |

07.07.11 | Variety eh? Will give it a shot, nothing to loose really. |

07.07.11 | BC Tip #2: Avoid rhyming, unless that's how you work best. Rhyming words that sound similar but aren't is incredibly cheesy and will be flamed by critics (ex. I love the look of the "moon", especially during "June"). There are only so many words you can rhyme with and although people find rhyming more pleasant your more mature audience will appreciate your lyrics regardless as long as they paint a lucid picture of the story embedded in your lyrics. |

07.07.11 | rhyming is usually lame |

07.07.11 | I'd prefer to not rhyme, I don't enjoy how it limits my word usage. Sometimes as a hook it works well, but all throughout is a definite turnoff. |

07.07.11 | BC Tip #3: Do not be afraid to experiment, even if your lyrics end up sucking. Writing is a process and the most important aspect to utilize is creativity. Creativity comes with innovation and originality, innovation is the prefer ed method because originality usually drive writers insane (originality demands a mental evolution and a well researched praxis of all genres you are using as inspiration to avoid clichés). The best lyrics have more to offer than is initially recognized and fans appreciate that "ah-ha!" moment in which they finally understand the message behind what it is you are saying. |

07.07.11 | I am feeling to lazy to write more, maybe I will just make a list one day but as my final tip for the moment
make sure to have fun and be satisfied with what you have written. |

07.07.11 | Thanks for the advice sir, I need to work on writing more as well. |

07.07.11 | Pepper your lyrics with words like Darling and Lover, throw in some spoken word sections, profit. |

07.07.11 | I would, wrong vibe for what I'm going for however. I do plan on having a few emotional ones, just I'll be pickier with the wording. |

07.07.11 | One of the most fascinating ways i've seen lyrics composed is the way david bowie used to randomly piece together odd lines he'd writen on little pieces of paper and just expirement with them to see the results. |

07.07.11 | Thom Yorke drew words and phrases out of a hat for some of the songs on Kid A |

07.07.11 | That's a really cool fact Tom, I really enjoy Bowie from time to time. I could see where that could work brilliantly, I won't pass up the opportunity to write things down now.
@Trebor17 - nope, wouldn't even consider it (concerning baby). |

07.07.11 | Unless the song is about an actual baby |

07.07.11 | Acanthus - It's an intriguing way forward, isn't it. Seems to have worked well for him, tho. I've dabbled at writing lyrics in a hobby-sense a few times. Mine come out sort of like short poems. It's funny to write a lyric then come back to it months later - you'll end up thinking wtf you were thinking at the time of writing, sometimes - can be funny. |

07.07.11 | @Nuclear - Thanks man, this isn't for either of those genre's luckily. I've also been listening to artists that I admire, noticing how they use this/that to their benefit, etc. The personality bit is great advice as well.
@Tom - yeah I have a friend whose like that, sadly it stops him from doing anything with his lines. |
