05.18.07 | You don't listen to any really GOOD metal, most of this is mainstream trash IMO. |
Cravinov13
05.18.07 | Oh, and I forgot to mention bands.
Opeth
Children Of Bodom
Grey Skies Fallen (you can get their CDs for free)
Soilwork
Strapping Young Lad
Hypocrisy
It's hard to meet your restrictions. The fact you have restrictions though shows you really should't be listening to metal. |
Eakflanderyof
05.18.07 | The fact that you want a metal band with minimal growling makes the suggestions very limited. That basically leaves us with thrash and you already listen to the big four. I personally believe that you should try to get into growling and screeching/screaming music. It doesn't happen overnight. Now, for the suggestions:
- Ulver (only the first three albums, though, and mainly just the very first album Bergtatt)
- Children of Bodom
- Agalloch
- Wintersun
- In Flames
- Opeth
There's quite a deal of screaming and/or growling in a couple of these recommendations, but I did the best I could with your limitations.

05.18.07 | limitations is unmetal *frowns at you* |
ToWhatEnd
05.18.07 | I'd say Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, and In Flames for your more metal type. I see you have some metalcore on here so I'll say try Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Unearth and Haste The Day. |
Monticello
05.18.07 | Scar Symmetry (half and half growling and clean singing)
X Japan (very well written speed metal with ballads, one of my favourite bands) |
south_of_heaven 11
05.18.07 | Slayer
Sodom
Destruction
Kreator
Testament
Venom
Onslaught
Nevermore
Motorhead
Hypocrisy
Deathchain
At the Gates
Artillery
Check out any of those bands. If you're too retarded not to, than that's your loss; half of these "tell me what to listen to lol!" music lists usually amount to nothing. And if you don't like the first four then you basically fail at life so yeah. |

05.18.07 | tbh, "By Inheritance" by Artillery should suit you very, very well. Check it out fucker. |
Mastodon_2007
05.18.07 | Try Super Joint Ritual, Its Phil's(pantera) Sideproject, its just straight forward fun Metal. |
jrowa001
05.18.07 | Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine
Cynic - Focus
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2
Between the Buried and Me - Alaska
Parkway Drive - Killing With A Smile
All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals
Soilwork - A Predators Portrait |

05.18.07 | Check out God Forbid , In Flames , All That Remains , Threat Signal , Pantera and Mudvayne (don't know if you like nu-metal) |
freudianslipknot
05.18.07 | looking at your restrictions - if you prefer clean vocals - maybe iced earth and nightwish (talk about clean vocals haha!). If you can stand more epic length songs try dream theater. Otherwise, I have to admit it's hard to imagine a decent metal collection without Children of Bodom and Opeth. |
Eakflanderyof
05.18.07 | Wow, I completely forgot about power metal somehow.
More specific suggestions:
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Agalloch - Pale Folklore
Ulver - Bergtatt
Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper
In Flames - The Jester Race
In Flames - Clayman
Wintersun - Wintersun
Ihsahn - The Adversary

Brain Dead
05.18.07 | You're getting into growling bands sooner or later, whether you like it or not. You might as well plunge in as soon as possible, so you can get past the initial dislike and start enjoying the music. I would recommend Nevermore and Wintersun for melody and exuberance, Neurosis and Boris for some sludgy, slower stuff, and Opeth and Converge for being two of the best metal bands ever. Also, some System of a Down is always good, and Tool are more metal than people think they are. |

05.18.07 | hmm....yeah most of these metal bands arean't too great (though i honestly llke A7X quite a bit) and the "big 4" are pretty good, as well as Iron MAiden. 5 and 6 suck imo, and i dont really like 3. The rest are okay from whAT I'VE HEARD.
Looking lover th bands you like, i suggest soilwork . Thy're pretty damn good, but are more your style, that is a blend of screaming and singing that is pretty balanced. Their first two albums are all growling, b ut after that, there is pretty much abalance between singing and screaming/growling. I think that you should start with the album "Natural Born Chaos" from the. It's their second best imo, and is pretty similar to your tastes. I suggest you checking out their two albums after NBC as well, stabbing the drama and figure number five. A predato'rs Prtrait is easily my fav album from them, but it's heavier and much darker. Still, check any of their six albums out. |
Crysis
05.19.07 | Dark Tranquillity and Agalloch I recommend highly. |
thrash4life
05.19.07 | thanks guys for the recommendations. just to clear things up i don't mind screaming/growling at all it's just when it gets so overboard that it sounds like a dog singing and you cant even understand what there talking about. lol |
