| My 2011 Roundup
I don't know dudes. Most of my favorite artists have put out an new album but a lot of them don't really strike me that hard. | 1 | | Marissa Nadler Marissa Nadler | 2 | | Draconian A Rose For The Apocalypse
Their best album. Engrossing melodies, superb dual male harsh female clean vocals, great riffs, violin, and songwriting. Less gothic sounding than previous albums but overall a tremendous achievement. | 3 | | Maybeshewill I Was Here For a Moment, Then I Was Gone | 4 | | Indian Guiltless | 5 | | So Hideous, My Love To Clasp a Fallen Wish With Broken Fingers
So epic. The screamo-post rock thing with violin is really good. Great dynamics, emotion and atmosphere. | 6 | | Bodies of Water Twist Again
Heavily Arcade Fire influenced, great male/female vocals and musical diversity. One specific song has a great Noir atmosphere. | 7 | | Boatrocker Delicious Jams
Great post-hardcore. Amazing artwork, go on the blogs for funny reactions from the kvlt crowd expecting something else musically. Alot of people pissed off about the rainbows and picnic setting. WHAT THW FUCK THIS ISNT BLACK METAL...FUCK OFF AND DIE. LOL. | 8 | | Grayceon All We Destroy
Kills..... | 9 | | Loss Despond | 10 | | Corpsessed The Dagger & The Chalice | 11 | | Ulver Wars of the Roses
Initial hype is over. It's a great album but lacks the memorability and depth of Shadows of the Sun | 12 | | Moonlit Sailor Colors In Stereo
A reasonable follow up to the great So Close To Life but admittedly more derivative and generic. Not quite a dud but could have been better. | 13 | | Primordial Redemption At The Puritan's Hand
Same as Ulver. | 14 | | Autopsy Macabre Eternal | 15 | | The Dear Hunter Red EP
Admittedly I haven't even heard alot of the allegedly finer albums of the year starting with TD.H. I liked II, which would you recommend me, a separate color or the whole collection? | |

07.21.11 | In terms of death metal, black metal, post-rock, indie, eletronica,hip-hop I haven't been blown away by anything. | AngelofDeath
07.21.11 | Wars of the Roses is still one of my favorites of the year. Despond is up there too along with Heavy Rock II and the new Earth and new Peste Noire. | Tyrael
07.21.11 | Great list Balls but I would have added these:
Black Metal:
Woods of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason
Arizmenda - Without Circumference Nor Center
Peste Noire - L'Ordure a l'etat Pur
Hip-Hop:
Raekwon - Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang
Post-rock:
*shels - Plains of the Purple Buffalo
Electronica:
James Blake - James Blake
Swarms - Old Raves End | BallsToTheWall
07.21.11 | Torn Beyond Reason was meh but will sample some of the others first. | Wolfhorde
07.21.11 | Gotta agree with 11 and 13. Especiall the "depth" part. | psykonaut
07.21.11 | cool list, gonna check out 4 and 6 | DoubtGin
07.21.11 | If you like II, I'd probably listen to III first because the music from the collection is much more stripped down(even though Black and Orange are probably your best bets).
| Ire
07.21.11 | earth
asobi seksu
grouper
cmon man cmon | BallsToTheWall
07.22.11 | Heard Earth which was alright and new Grouper was good but as for Asobi Seksu and Pains of being pure at heart I dun know, they dront rev my engine./
However, listening toa band called Welkin Dusk and they are slaying face. | Satellite
