08.11.11 | acorn...i was the same way man, no theory training really....i just love music and play for fun. all i had were fragments of riffs/lyrics, etc. for the longest time and then i just said fuck it...im recording a complete song no matter what it takes. and here i am. the first of many hopefully. |

considering it was the first you've written and recorded id say you did a pretty good job man, and thanks for the compliments. I only have a decent condenser mic with a cheap tube preamp, so im using a pretty basic setup.
climactic i use ableton live for all my dubstep/drum and bass stuff. all the guitar parts are live recordings and the rest of it is all MIDI |

I also played all the instruments/programmed drums/mixed and all, except I used Cubase SX 3. It's a great approach, I'm entirely self-taught and that's a good way to gain control over everything. I liked the layers and edgy undertones to the indie sound you have going. I dig the chord progressions, and the different parts come together/lock in really well. Your vocals remind me of what's-his-name from The Gaslight Anthem, but don't take my word for it, I don't even know his name haha. Keep going with it dude. |
