| My Digs Bring All The Boys To The Yard | 1 | | Aves Aves
Although a lot of people would probably refer to this as "post-black metal", it's actually way more of a post rock album than a black metal album. The black metal sections are fairly straightforward and good (nothing to write home about), but the band certainly does excel in their post-rock craft, playing some really memorable stuff. | 2 | | Mister Heavenly Out of Love
Referring to their brand of music as "doom-wop", Mister Heavenly (which is a supergroup consisting of members from well known bands such as Islands, Man Man, Modest Mouse, The Shins, and The Unicorns) play a 50's doo-wop influenced form of indie pop with lyrics revolving around doomed love stories. Musically this album is more fun than a moon bounce and I actually really enjoy the lyrics as well. | 3 | | Sepism Distorting the Mortal Visage
Although I rarely enjoy brutal death metal (aside from Demonic Sacrifice and Defaced Creation) Distorting the Mortal Visage is an album I've taken a huge liking to. Musically it's played in the style of standard bdm, I for whatever have enjoyed this more than most other stuff I've heard from the genre. The technical ability is pretty impressive, the vocals split from super deep gutturals and more of an awesome mid-range growls which are used less frequently. While everything is awesome, the guitarists know how to throw in some truly powerhouse riffs that will have you breaking your neck in no time. | 4 | | The Mausoleums Blackened Fawns Cleanse The Earth With Fire
Playing a surprisingly cohesive combination of psychedelic rock/raw black metal/noise/folk/shoegaze The Mausoleums are definitely not for anyone who is a stickler for production; intensely lo-fi, it may be hard to hear exactly what is being played at times but the overall amazing songwriting and just straight weird music on this album with more than likely having you come up for seconds, thirds, so and so forth. | 5 | | The Weeknd House of Balloons

08.25.11 | 1 and 4 certainly sound worth checking out. 1 sounds a lot like that Dopamine album I reviewed. | AngelofDeath
08.25.11 | Whoops, forgot to log back in to this account. | TheSpirit
08.25.11 | The only Dopamine I've heard was form the split they did, but I've been digging (good) post black metal or whatever lately so I think I'm gonna d/l it right now. Have you heard of a band called Crooked Necks btw? They are a black metal influenced post-punk band that used to be known as Frail who was more black metal. Anyway, they are really awesome, they have a great split with Circle of Ouroborus which is ich their only material so far, but they are coming out with their debut album this year which I'm fairly excited for. | AngelofDeath
08.25.11 | I've heard them mentioned but never checked out any of their stuff. I'll look into it when I check out these albums. | TheSpirit
