| Dnor's Inevetiably Awful Big 4 List
Academy already posted one, but unlike him, I was 1,172.3 miles away from my home, and couldn't post a list right after the concert. Needless to say, I had the time of my life, and will remember the concert for the rest of my life. Definitely the best show I've EVER been to. So now that I'm home, without further adieu, I present "Dnor's Inevetiably Awful Big 4 List!"... | 1 | Anthrax
Anthrax played a really solid set. They sounded amazing and played with a lot of energy, unfortunately for them, the show started at 4pm, and with them playing first, the stadium was barely half (if that) full, and the sun was still shining brightly. That and the fact Scott Ian made a Mets stab that probably pissed off more people then it catered to, it was an overall enjoyable show. No flashy lights, or pyrotechnics (only metallica had the pyrotechnics honestly, to avoid restating that in later parts of this list.) | 2 | Megadeth
Besides the fact I have a personal hatred for Dave Mustaine (unexplainable, so don't ask), they sounded really good. I kind of got rubbed the wrong way with Dave's seeming Martyr Syndrome with his "I should be having emergency neck surgery, but I said, NO WAY, I'M PLAYING THAT SHOW". Seemed like he wanted us to like him more because he put off a Neck Surgery. Whatever, neither here nor there, they sounded great, but suffered from the same misfortune as Anthrax with the sunshine and entering crowd. | 3 | Slayer
Slayer absolutely desecrated Yankee stadium. The heaviest of the Big 4, and they proved it. The crowd moved the most to these guys. They were the first band to really use flashy lights, but these might have been brightened by the fact this was also the first band to really play while the sun was down. Never the less, they completely killed it. Amazing set by an amazing band. | 4 | Metallica
The band that got me into metal. The band that got me wanting to learn how to play guitar. The band I told my own mother that if I ever got cancer, my one "Make-A-Wish" wish would be to see them live. And here I was, sitting in Yankee Stadium surrounded by 40,000 other fans, sitting on the edge of my seats eagerly anticipating their entrance. The lights go out, Ecstasy of Gold comes on accompanied by the clip from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" it's from, and the time has come....Metallica completely blew me away. The setlist was surprisingly solid, and to top if off, when James wasn't blathering away (as Academy touched on) about loving all of us, he sounded perfect. Aided by the fact they were the only band to use extensive laser lights and pyrotechnics, they were by far the best band to play. Every song was chanted by all 40,000 people, which was by far and away the most impressive thing my short life has seen thus far. Also, the Entire Big 4 came out as Encore, which was presumed to play "Am I Evil" (Diamondhead cover), but they switched it up and opted to play "Overkill" by Motorhead. It was awesome, but after the Big 4 Ensemble, Metallica continued with their own Encore. Show was amazing the whole way through. All 4 bands. Time of my life! | |

09.17.11 | All the videos I have for the "highlights" are all pretty solid quality. I'd upload the ones I shot, but 1) it was from my cell phone, and 2) My phone died halfway through Slayer's set. | EverythingEvil2113
09.17.11 | Awesome show it sounds like. I've seen Metallica once before but it would be incredible to see all four of these bands at one show. lucky you. I think Overkill is by Motorhead and not Machinehead though ;) | dnor
09.17.11 | Lol, I've been traveling all day, I'll fix it in the Morning. I'm so tired. Good catch though. | omnipanzer

09.17.11 | basically i agree with everything (except the megadeth description). metallica's setlist was pretty good overall.... i mean, Orion? tits. | dnor
09.17.11 | Trip was the shit. Had a great time. And yeah, when Robert Trujillo busted out the bass solo in Orion, I lost it. The show was awesome. And lol Acad, it's all good, the list title is more an homage to yours, not a shot at you calling my lists "awful". :D I know most of my lists suck, it's a dnor staple at this point haha | KILL
09.17.11 | m/ | dnor
09.17.11 | I agree for the most part sonic. Check out the "highlights" in the first comment I posted. Good quality recordings of all the bands. | dnor
09.17.11 | Yeah, I want to get it, but at the same time, I wish they had made a DVD of the NYC show, just so I could say I was there :( And if they do go to Atlanta, I will probably make the 8 hour drive to go see them again. |
