| In That Music-listening Mood
There are times when, you don't know why, but you just feel like submersing yourself in music; not as background noise, but specifically to listen to it, indulge in it, and fully take it in. It becomes an experience; those moods can alter the emotions you feel while listening, and give you a perspective on an album that you may have never had, or may never actually be able to receive again. I had a bit of an experience when I had the apartment to myself, reading a book with the blinds open on an overcast day and this album on in the next room. An underground rock album that I really enjoy. More people should give this a shot. Upon first listen, it comes off as a fairly typical rock album, but there's plenty of character and quirkiness on it to make it stand out, IMO. | | 6 |  | Scale the Summit
The Collective
Seeing these guys live was a treat--I've never been so impressed simply WATCHING someone play guitar, nevermind the absolutely mesmorizing sounds being created. "The Levitated" is one of the best songs of the year, hands down. | |

I only had to spend about five minutes to find that song, after I watched a video of some guys dancing and they had a remix of it in there, so I just had to go find out who the guys were. The power of the internet. :P | Masochist

It took me so long to find the song because I couldn't remember the name of the artist, and it has no lyrics so I couldn't Google it, and no one else seemed to remember its name (not even my mom, who listened to it all the time). I only found it because I heard a remix of "Tootsie Roll" that sampled it. | Vesper

The ONLY lyrics in that song are the title repeated over and over... hahahaha. Unless the first time you heard it was one of the billion remixes of it out there. A lot of which are actually pretty damn good, since the original leaves a lot of room for building on it. | Masochist
09.21.11 | I never actually noticed the lyrics. I remember it from my childhood; I lived on Nellis A.F.B. back when I was 5, so this was 1992 that I remember this song on the radio. I started looking for it when I really got into music during high school, but couldn't ever find it, and heard nothing of it until earlier this week.

I hardly ever listened to anything but classical music until I was twelve, so I didn't have to deal with decade-long song searches. Although it did take me about that long to track down this movie from 1997 about kangaroo ninjas that I was almost half-convinced was a dream, until I ran across it only a year ago in college. I love that feeling of discovery. :D | Masochist

Don't get me wrong, though--it wasn't, like, a decade of frantic, efforted searching; more like me remembering that song every so often, trying to ask people about it, getting nowhere, and forgetting about it for several weeks. Still, it's an amazing feeling having this song in my collection at long last.
