11.28.11 | Well, they're not. The whole point behind being a dj is that you can mix live, that's the crux of being a disc jockey. If you've ever seen a video on youtube of Skrillex playing live you'll undoubtedly see some comments complaining about he just opens his laptop and presses play, that's because he's not a dj by trade, he's a music producer. He's probably spent days in advance working on the mix because he never "trained" or never attempted to be a live mixer
A DJ is someone who can take music and play it live, and then mix another track on the spot and pull it off perfectly, like Andy C who sometimes mixes live with up to 3 decks |
