Screamo is indeed real, and besides those who think it is just a vocal style also think that is just a made up tag for post-hardcore and metalcore.

Nearly everyone I know thinks metalcore, skramz etc. is literally just someone yelling in a microphone which pisses me off to no end because I am harsh vocalist, it takes a lot of hard work and people completely undermine it with their bullshit ignorance. I told a friend of mine who used to be in a band that I do harsh vocals his response was 'I used to try to scream for my band but I could never do it for the whole song, is it even possible? I think they just do it all using computers'. Calling death metal, and hardcore punk is fucking joke and you have to be absolutely retarded to not see the difference. /rant

DinoX 02.07.12	I also hate how even people who DO listen to metalcore namely the scene kids think that if you like harsh vocals that you have to like every band in existence with screaming in it. What I find odd is that most people do at some time get in a 'screamo' phase in their teens but they never bother to look past the mainstream and write it all off as shit as a reflection of Escape The Fate.

ILJ 02.07.12	Yeah, that was kind of how that whole thing started in the first place. I just find it easier to talk to people about and show them indie and folk and those sort of things. They tend to be more open to it. It's sad, cause if they just gave some of the heavier stuff a chance, they might come to like it. To each their own I guess.
