I Am Bored ..... Favourite Albums !! |
15 | | Dio Holy Diver
His best album by far, beating 'Heaven and Hell' and 'Rising'. Any album that includes masterpieces such as
'Holy Diver', 'Caught in the Middle', 'Don't Talk to Strangers' and 'Rainbow in the Dark' is bound to be pretty
damn good. Rest in Peace Mr. Ronnie James Dio, metal isn't the same without you |
14 | | Deep Purple Deep Purple In Rock
One of the most underrated bands of all time that shouldn't be ignored. In my opinion this tops Machine
Head as Deep Purple's best album and I have one reason for that ..... 'Child in Time' .... one of the best rock
songs ever written by any band and as if that wasn't enough this album also contains 'Black Night', 'Speed
King' and 'Flight of the Rat'. A near-perfect album by an amazing band |
13 | | Motorhead Ace of Spades
The album that epitomises BADASS. Anyone that considers themselves a metalhead who doesn't have this
album or doesn't like Motorhead is simply a douchebag who has one metal album in their collection (The
Black Album- Metallica). Title track is a bit overplayed but there's enough rock n roll here to satisfy anyone
into rock or metal, best songs include 'Ace of Spades', 'The Chase is Better than the Catch', 'The Hammer'
and '(We Are) The Road Crew'. Essential album. |
12 | | Rush Moving Pictures
One of progressive rocks best albums by one of its most popular and timeless bands. Sure Rush have
produced some amazing albums and 2112-Moving Pictures has to be one of the most amazing and perfect
albums runs since The Beatles. Highlights include 'Tom Sawyer', 'Red Barchetta', the epic 'The Camera Eye'
and 'Limelight' |
11 | | Alice in Chains Dirt
Not much more can be said about this album, a harrowing journey through drug-addiction and self-destruction
that almost maps out Layne's demise. Anyone that's never listened to this album high/depressed hasn't lived
fully, yes there are better albums by better bands out there but I don't think many have ever shown more
emotion in the lyrics on an album. Best songs 'Rooster', 'Them Bones', 'Rain When I Die', 'Angry Chair',
'Down in a Hole' and of course 'Would?' |
10 | | Black Sabbath Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
It was between this and Paranoid and I chose this one simply because it's more inventive than the straight-up
metal of Paranoid. The crushing riff of the title track is one of Sabbath's best moments, Ozzy's vocals in my
opinion were never better than on this album and his performances on the title track, 'A National Acrobat'
which has some great lyrics, 'Sabbra Cadabra' and the eerie but brilliant 'Spiral Architect' prove how brilliant
this band was. |
9 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
Forget 'Somewhere in Time', forget 'Seventh Son', forget even the amazing 'Powerslave', this is Maiden's best
in my opinion. How can an album have the underrated songs 'Children of the Damned' and 'The Prisoner', the
metal classics 'Run to the Hills' and the title track and of course the greatest metal song of all time 'Hallowed
Be Thy Name' and not be the band's best album and one of the best albums in metal ? |
8 | | Judas Priest Painkiller
A speed metal classic, Halford's voice never sounded as good as it does on this album, the drums are faster
than ever and the riffs are just as good as anything Maiden or Metallica or Megadeth ever came up with. Every
song either has a great riff, a great vocal performance or is a speed metal classic and some tracks are all
three of those, see title track, 'Night Crawler', the amazing 'Leather Rebel', 'Between the Hammer and the
Anvil', 'A Touch of Evil' and the epic 'One Shot at Glory' |
7 | | Metallica Master of Puppets
I fucking hate cliches and on this site this is the biggest of them all ..... but it's that way for a reason, and
that reason is that simply this is one of the best metal albums of all time. They may have become music's
biggest douchebags recently with a twat behind the drums, a monkey on bass, a Mexican on lead guitar and
a geography teacher as lead vocalist but there was a time when they were on top of the metal ladder and it
doesn't get much better than this. Best songs 'Battery', 'title track', 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium) |
6 | | Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime
One of the most intelligent albums ever created. It weaves through tragedy, mystery and despair to tell a
story like a Hollywood movie. A progressive metal masterpiece that is extremely underrated. Best songs in
my opinion are the title track, 'Revolution Calling', 'I Don't Believe in Love' and the stunning 'Eves of a
Stranger' |
5 | | Pearl Jam Ten
A brilliant album that easily tops anything most grunge and alt rock bands ever did. The pure emotion in
Vedder's voice is unequaled by almost anything I've heard. Best songs here are 'Even Flow', 'Alive', 'Jeremy',
the amazing 'Release' and of course the emotionally devastating and brilliantly beautiful 'Black' that Eddie
refused to release as a single due to it being too personal. Screw you music industry |
4 | | Megadeth Rust in Peace
A furious thrash assault that doesn't let up from the opening riff of 'Holy Wars' through to the last seconds of
'Rust in Peace... Polaris'. I don't doubt most of you will have heard this album numerous times all the way
through but the best songs here have to be 'Holy Wars... The Punishment Due', 'Hangar 18', 'Tornado Of
Souls' and 'Rust in Peace... Polaris'. A great album that Megadeth probably won't ever top |
3 | | Bruce Springsteen Born to Run
An utter joy to listen to, never has the Boss been on better form than this. The landmark in songwriting
'Thunder Road' through almost a life story encouraging everyone that there is glamour in a normal lifestyle,
the title track encompassing escapism like nothing since and the heartfelt 'Jungleland', the screams at the
end epitomise rock music and everything the American Dream ever stood for |
2 | | Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
What more can anyone say about this ? Already recognised as one of the greatest albums of all time by this
website music doesn't really get much better. From the epic 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' through the
beautiful lyrical masterpiece title track closing with the second part of 'Crazy Diamond' you won't find a more
amazing musical album than this. Easily tops Dark Side and easily tops Animals, this album is an experience
in itself |
1 | | Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction
Like it or not, no album will ever sum up a genre like this did for rock n roll. Everything about this album is
raw and real, Axl and Slash never wanted to make anything other than pissed off rock with attitude and they
created one of the best rock albums ever and my favourite. Includes some of my favourite songs by the band
such as the obvious 'Welcome to the Jungle', 'Sweet Child O' Mine', 'Rocket Queen', 'Nightrain' and my
favourite 'Paradise City'. |
