03.11.12 | I've heard most and they all have m/ production for what they do, that kind that makes you wanna buy better earphones. Now I'm often attracted by more raw production. |
ApplicationToHeaven
03.11.12 | needs more Les Légions Noires |
ThroneOfAgony
03.11.12 | why would you not want good production? |
Strider

03.12.12 | I the Breather's new album has a pretty sweet guitar tone. As for production, I like it clean, as in Mae's (m)orning EP, or Sent by Raven's new album. |

03.12.12 | I don't see how A Dramatic Turn of Events has bad production. You probably got a terrible rip dummy |

ChuckyTruant
03.12.12 | Idk man it just sounds very mechanic, percussive, probably because of the way they play. I'm not saying its shit production, just sounds very different. |
macadoolahicky
03.12.12 | I hear you. How about Accelerated Evolution by The Devin Townsend Band? |
ChuckyTruant

AStableReference
03.13.12 | Serious clipping, compression and limiting on a lot of these. That isn't good production. |
paxman
03.13.12 | I love the guitar tone on Digital Veil |
ChuckyTruant
03.13.12 | ^ same.
AStableReference, get better rips dummy. Or actually buy the music and you wont have those problems bitch |
AStableReference
03.13.12 | A little overly defensive there, Chuck. Not everyone who disagrees "has a bad rip". Here, number five is especially guilty of the things I mentioned. (based on an Amazon.com download.)
If you rip an album to FLAC it it will bring the levels down below clipping in the waveform, but the audible clipping will still remain. There is also the problem of extreme limiting and dynamic range compression. I know that isn't the only thing there is to production, but doing really badly with that will give an album pretty noticeably damaged sound quality if you have any decent headphones or sound system. I have ripped many album that clip in MP3 or any other format to FLAC and it brings the volume down, but the clipping still remains audible in the same places.
What kind of headphones do you use? |
