I haven't been into raw black metal for a long time but Axis of Light has greatly helped me get back into the genre. Their music sounds like Cirrhus or Furdidurke except a bit more epic - think punky black metal with longer song structures and bit more experimentation at times. |

Not strictly a black metal release but it resonates the genre very strongly still; switching from bluesy atmospheric sludge to grim, black metal madness this album provides tons of riffs, tempo changes and a plethora of other techniques that keep it fresh and exciting. |

I'm not really one to toot my own horn but fuck, if I didn't call Rhinocervs blowing up and becoming a huge force in black metal I don't know who did. To be honest though, one listen to the first two releases from this amazing label and anyone would be able to tell. An all around amazing label and RH02 still remains to be one of my favorites. |

Forest Mysticism is the side project of D from Woods of Desolation and is another great atmospheric black metal act in it's own right - they are releasing material this year so keep an eye out. Larmes d'Hivers is a solid black metal act, nothing spectacular but on this split they show their competence. |

Although this is pretty much straight-forward black metal the melodies used within are quite unique which makes this brand new USBM project stand out amongst its peers. |

So fucking underrated it hurts; this has riffs, awesome vocals, great variation and a ton of other great traits that has made this an unsung classic within black/death metal. Ignore its current review, the guy compares it to Amon Amarth and once you have a listen to this, you'll know that he is a complete cum dumpster with dildos for ears for making that strange and off the mark comparison. |
