03.19.12 | It just feels right. Whether ordering it from Amazon or from an actual record store it's a fun hobby of mine. |
AlonsoHarris
03.19.12 | I don't buy music anymore but I still buy Dvds theres just something about holding the case in your hands if you've been waiting for it a long time. |

03.19.12 | maybe to like support the artist or something I dont know... |
tarkus
03.19.12 | cos vinyl sounds badass and cds sound better than shitty rips |
AlonsoHarris
03.19.12 | there are plenty of good rips out there thats not valid. and vinyl sounds older, not better. |
tarkus
03.19.12 | even though they are good rips cds still sound better
and vinyl is hands down the best sound quality if you take care of it |
LifeAsAChipmunk
03.19.12 | I don't buy music. Vinyl is for hipsters, jk.
By the way, 10 rox, it's so punx. |

ChuckyTruant
03.20.12 | I download stuff from bands I'm just getting into, to see what it's like and if I like it or not. Otherwise I buy just cuz, artistically pure |
North0House2
03.20.12 | Considering how much the music industry screws the bands I like over, I tend to just support them by buying merch/going to shows. Unless the band is DIY and self-produced, I don't bother buying their CD's because not much goes to the band themselves. |
MUNGOLOID
03.20.12 | i still get a thrill out of buying physical copies of albums even after all these years. |
Hyperion1001
03.20.12 | because having shit other people dont have is the meaning of life |

03.20.12 | good answer |
ILJ
03.20.12 | I don't usually buy, I just get merch at shows because it helps the artist more than buying an album through a record company. But if the ISP's really cut down in July like some places are claiming I might have to bite the bullet and start buying again. |
North0House2
03.20.12 | ^^^ Same. |
Blackbelt54
03.20.12 | I like having physical copies, I think they're cool
I got this green with black swirl vinyl yesterday and it's so cool
Also I want to support the bands I like |
AtomicShane
03.20.12 | i still like to support good bands |
Turtlestlker
03.20.12 | I like having a physical copy of an album I like, I live in a area where its hard to find the music I like so when I do find it I tend to snatch it up. |

03.20.12 | cos vinyl sounds badass and cds sound better than shitty rips [2]
"vinyl sounds older, not better."
Not true. There's more depth and better separation. |
AlonsoHarris
03.20.12 | I can see the physical copy argument but this whole "i like to support the band" does not hold any water. They make about 35 cents off that album |
TheZehan
03.20.12 | You gotta support the bands. We don't want another Napster riot/music strike. That would SUCK |
Skrapyard
03.20.12 | I like supporting the artists, and I like having the aesthetic experience of the music plus a physical object with visual artwork. I tend to buy only records and tapes, since I don't find the CD pleasing as an object... though there are some exceptions (I really like the Sleepwalker demo CDs). |

Blackbelt54
03.20.12 | So you're telling me that if I buy a CD from a band member at their show they only get 35 cents? |
tarkus
03.20.12 | the one issue i have with cds is that they started the price high and never dropped it
you can get a dvd for 5 bucks but cds still cost 10-15 |

03.20.12 | its rewarding to own a copy of a cd. its rewarding to give an album to a friend to borrow instead of just reccing them songs.

03.20.12 | I love going to record stores especially for vinyl, plus finding something special that you didn't expect to see is fun too. |

03.20.12 | I just like the idea of having the physical thing if I like the album so much. Not only am I a bit of a collector when it comes to CD's but I also enjoy looking through and smelling the booklets. |
deathofasalesman
03.20.12 | I tend to just support them by buying merch/going to shows. Unless the band is DIY and self-produced, I don't bother buying their CD's because not much goes to the band themselves. [2 HARD] |

03.20.12 | It's all about owning that shit, like there's certain records I just gotta have in my hands or in my collection. Supporting the bands and shit, also seeing all the artwork .....maybe a small addiciton to the smell of the booklets. |
Shuyin
03.20.12 | having the real copy (booklet, etc) is kinda cool, many people actually collect CD's
there are a few albums that i would like to buy when i get my life... fixed |
spillingmercury
03.20.12 | Physical copies come with stuff you just can't get online. Booklets are fun to read. Photo albums are nostalgic. And we can't forget about the extra art that comes in.
yeah this. always appreciate a physical copy that comes with good side notes and artwork. Also I feel bad for getting music "for free," and as fantastic as it would be if I could, I can't go to every nearby concert every band I support plays at. I don't have that kind of freedom. So I figure I horde band merchandise to feel like I've contributed. |

03.20.12 | I love going to record stores especially for vinyl, plus finding something special that you didn't expect to see is fun too. [2]
Specially the part of something that you didn't expect part, thanks to that I bought John Zorn The Dreamers: The gentle side and I have to say it's sick as fuck, it comes with a beautiful artwork in the sleeve plus the album is a picture disc and it's 180 grams. |
rasputin
03.20.12 | 'Just wondering why people still buy music when it is clearly free via, rTorrents and shit like that'
spoken like a true parasite |
drewcordova
03.20.12 | Going to a used record store and flipping through vinyl or cd's is a great way to spend time. You aren't supporting artists by buying used, but that's not such a big deal. Besides, part of the charm of picking up something unexpected is lost on the internet. Especially because it's fun to take a stab in the dark on an album cover that you find beautiful or intriguing. The internet pigeon-holes you, man. Get to a record store and start digging! |

03.20.12 | I hardly ever buy CDs anymore, though I buy a lot of tshirts and go to a lot of shows so I'm doing my part. I collect Tv series and Playstation 1 games as a hobby |
Killerhit
03.20.12 | Mostly because there are albums that contain music some digital LPs don't have. The double vinyl LP of Jesus Christ Superstar contains about three different songs youll never fuckin find anywhere |

03.20.12 | "and vinyl sounds older, not better."
ohhhhhh man so wrong |
Blackbelt54
03.20.12 | yeah vinyl has more "depth" to it, like more textures or something idk |
pmmets07
03.20.12 | because i can't always find stuff on mediafire |

03.20.12 | and i like throwing bands a few dollars. supporting diy bands is self-gratifying. makes me feel like i'm contributing to something |

03.20.12 | I buy music(preferably Vinyl) simply because its brings a nice visual aspect to it while listening, and i also want to support the artists themselves. |
Electric City
03.20.12 | i'll buy off bandcamp |
BlueW
03.20.12 | i buy vinyl and on bandcamp rest is the occasional cd and mediafire/torrent nowadays |
YankeeDudel
03.20.12 | The guys saying you buy music what is the percentage of stuff you buy compared to download? And do you only buy stuff from the more underground artists?
Me I download most stuff. Only buy if its one of my favorite bands. I cant be dropping 15 bucks on very album I own. It definitely is more intimate when you buy a nice album or CD though. Thats whats missing nowadays. But downloading is so tempting and.... free. |
Smug
03.20.12 | Ssstick it to my ass ^____^ |
Dimor
03.20.12 | Well, my download percentage is alot higher. But downloading an album and listening to it might also result in you buying the actual album later on. |
TheFonz123
03.21.12 | my family is kind of in the poor house as of recently so I dont often have the opertunity to buy cds but no matter how many times ive done it, getting money from my dad and searching for a cd and then finally holding it in my hands makes me so happy |

03.21.12 | initially I don't but if I really dig the album i'll buy it at a store even though I have already downloaded it. Its fulfilling owning the actual record. |
Vespiion
03.21.12 | I usually don't torrent anymore unless I really want an album on my iPod, otherwise I pull it up on Spotify and then buy it at a record store or the internet. |
TheFonz123
03.21.12 | I also love supporting artists i really like, I used to be a raging deftones fanboy so I bought like four of their albums with saved up money, same thing with kayo dot, and john coltrane |
rasputin
03.21.12 | used to download more but now i buy just as much as I download |
AlasKenColors
03.21.12 | Primarily, if it's a cd i really enjoy, i want to have a hard copy of it to add to my collection. I usually use torrents and whatnot just to sample the cd and see if i like it. If i like it enough, and have enough money. I'll go out and buy it.
If i enjoy the record (or band) but don't buy the cd, i'll definitely be playing it in my car and showing it to my friends. Help spread the word, go to a show, etc. |
Damon
03.22.12 | I just like having physical copies of the shit I like. Plus the sound quality always beats those iPod car-hookup things |
