What I like about it is it isnt just a metal or rock or indie or punk or hip hop or electronica site. It has everything and allows everyone to talk and share their favorite music from all over the spectrum. Thats why I joined here because I like alot of different shizz. It fits my taste perfectly as Im mostly a Metal/Rock/Alternative guy but like to mix it up. So yea sputnik... you iight for a bunch of nerds. |

yea I expected comments like this, but where I come from (Croatia), these albums ARE extremely rare. 99% of young people here listen to really shitty mainstream music, and I was lucky I had a few friends metalheads that showed me the right way

They might be well known here and on other dark corners of the internet but the vast majority of people are only casual listeners and wont be able to name pretty much 9/10 this list. If I ever do meet someone who likes metal (not at a concert) its usually just the typical Metallica, Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, Bullet For My Valentine type stuff. One person in college I knew loved In Flames and other melodeath stuff, and actually was in a band that performed "Swim" at a talent show lol, but thats about it. |

Lived a couple floors below me in college. His band is just another melodeath band but they actually have a decent amount of views on some of their videos and I think are recording their EP now. Funny shit. |

03.22.12 | Its funny because Ive gotten other people into much better music in my life. Alot of well known stuff here most people dont know about. Rock/Metal is definitely a dying breed in the mainstream these days. Yet when I come on this site there are people who have 250 GB of music who listen to 7 albums a day, half of them demos of bands nobody has ever heard of lol. And I thought I knew alot. Out of anybody I know I have the most music and listen to the heaviest shit which is why its crazy that theres so much other stuff out there.
Sane in America metal is definitely not as big as in Europe. Unless I went to a concert Im shocked if somebody even likes Alice In Chains or System Of A Down off this list. |

I can see where somebody would say that about the heavier stuff. Thats a much more aquired taste that not everyone is going to understandably like. But Black Sabbath, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden? Who the fuck wouldnt like that? Crazies I tell ya. |

03.22.12 | I have that album. Thats a whole different thing than stuff like CC tho. Thats more prog death metal than anything and it actually does have some melody and understandable vocals. Whenever I hear straight up death metal though it all just sounds mostly the same to me. Its not bad but nothing really stands out no matter how technical it is in my eyes.
See I just listened to Encased In Concrete and it wasnt bad, but nothing stuck out or left a big impression. Thats mostly what happens when I hear death metal. It can get me pumped up but theres no memorable vocal parts or melodies. Its mostly 100 mph all the time and just growling incoherantly over fast riffs and blast beats. I mean how do you tell these bands apart from each other in that respect? Im sure a seasoned death metal listener can easily do it, but most people cant which is why they say its just noise. People are used to music being vocal/lyrical/melody driven so its a complete 180 for them when they hear death metal. |
