10.17.14 | as mush as people are going to make fun of you, this is a silly question
just because aphex twin doesn't have 'drops' or whatever in his music doesn't mean it's not 'well-structured' by any means
you're going to be sorely disappointed if that's your indicator of value in electronic and I'd recommend that you (a) learn to appreciate stuff in the genre that doesn't conform to whatever the drop-centric structure is you're looking for is (b) just stick to stuff that does conform solely to that narrow view, I guess... nothing against either artist, but you're not going to have much luck trying to judge aphex twin by the same standards you judge skrillex |

10.17.14 | Step #1: Get a MRI to verify that you have localized damage in the primary auditory cortex and have a physical explanation as to why you can't enjoy this phenomenal music. Come to grips with the tragic fact that roughly half of the aural spectrum of sound is unavailable to you.
Step #2: Quit acting like a little hoe. |

Making fun of me just because I have no time to learn languages... lol
Very mature!
________________________________________________________________
Btw if you think I don't understand Aphex's music why don't you just explain it to me? Which structural,
instrumental, musical feats should I focus on and appreciate?
________________________________________________________________
"core kids hearing OSDM and complaining cause NO BREAKDOWNZ??????"
________________________________________________________________
not really
composing breakdowns has like 4 rules
1 play the lowest possible note in a rhythm that you find cool and not too short (because short grooves
are reminiscent of numetal)
2 the drummer must play the same rhythm with the bass-drum, the bass guitarist must follow you too
3 the drummer must hit the snare at every 4th or 8th eighth note if there's a bass-kick at the same time,
he doesn't have to play the bass-kick
4 he must hit the crash or the splash cymbal at every 2nd or 4th eight note
(you have a core breakdown)
________________________________________________________________
mastering and mixing like Garrix alone takes a long time and requires far more experience and knowledge
than writing breakdowns
________________________________________________________________
sure, the drop and the break' have a little bit similar function in the song but that's it

01.30.15 | looking at your ratings you don't appear to be super into electronic music. I've been into it for like 3 years and I'm _just_ now getting into him. (I tried multiple times earlier.) If I were you I'd start off with more accessible stuff and get into him later. OR listen to his more ambient stuff to start off (i.e. Selected Ambient Works II - pretty beautiful) and listen to it like you would listen to classical or something. |
