11.04.24 | Currently finishing up my revisit of the Mega Man X Legacy Collection (I'm now on X8), and I've gotta say, my ranking of these games has changed a decent amount. X5 is a lot worse than I remember it being, X3 is honestly kinda underrated, and X7 still retains its position as the worst X game by far. X8 is actually pretty fun though (barring a few notable levels), and the grind/farming is not as bad as it used to be for me. It may not be a perfect return to form after X7, but it's still a damn good time. I'd probably put it right in the middle of my ranking

In all likelihood, that thing is demand. Who owns a VR headset? As long as those things have the form factor of a 18th century diving bell, they're just not fit for mass marketing. Google Glass and HoloLens looked promising at first, but simply fizzled out. Why would organizers/venues set up complicated camera- and PA-combining streaming systems for like 20 people?
Weirdly, people (not me) also still like to go outside and meet up and stuff.
Alternative tinfoil take: Tฬถiฬถcฬถkฬถeฬถtฬถmฬถaฬถsฬถtฬถeฬถrฬถ Big Ticket made every single person who developed VR concert streaming tech and/or actually performant glasses-sized VR headsets disappear and bought all the patents. |

tectactoe
11.08.24 | I have been looking for a new mattress for probably over a year. It's worse than shopping for a house. I have no idea what want or even need anymore at this point.
On the other hand, I did get a new pillow. I was prepared to live in a shame spiral after spending ~$130 on a pillow, but I can honestly say it is the best $130 I've spent in years, and almost totally fixed the neck/shoulder problems I was having every time I woke up. It has literally been a godsend and sadly now I can never go back to a "cheap" pillow ever again.
Had the same revelation when I first bought a Sonicare toothbrush. |
Demon of the Fall
11.08.24 | damn, I get neck and shoulder pain!
my current pillow is a definite improvement on my previous old crappy one, but maybe there's another level still?
And yeah mattresses / beds are a minefield, I can only suggest trying out as many as physically possible yourself and (hopefully) finding one with a guaranteed return policy if it's not working out |
tectactoe
11.08.24 | This is the one I got:
https://coopsleepgoods.com/products/the-eden-pillow?variant=42871252228
The nice thing about it is that it comes with extra bags of "stuffing", so you can adjust the overall height/firmness to your liking simply by adding or removing material. I stuffed mine to the gills. My pillow is HEAVY. But man does it feel great to sleep on. I'm a perennial side-sleeper so my issue was that my head was not properly supported before and causing a lot of extra strain on my neck and even traveling down through my collarbone/shoulder. This pillow fixed everything. |
tectactoe
11.08.24 | Or maybe I am just a corporate shill in disguise >_> |
Demon of the Fall
11.08.24 | one tip I do have is to take the base into consideration if trying out a mattress (without buying a bed). A mattress will feel different depending on the base and if your base at home isn't the same as the one in the shop, results will vary
It sounds fairly obvious now, but it hadn't occurred to us when we started looking. In the end we replaced everything, partly because of these complications in finding a match (and the deal we got meant it was worth taking the whole thing, because man can standalone mattresses be expensive). |
Demon of the Fall
11.08.24 | That looks like a nice pillow tect. I'm a side sleeper also and my current replacement pillow is a lot bulkier and stuffed with more material. I do get quite warm and it hasn't completely alleviated my issues though. I see this has cooling tech.
Exciting discussion in the casual today. |
tectactoe
11.08.24 | I can't say for sure that this has an explicit "coolness" to it, however, I've never gotten hot ears from sleeping on it, and that's something to which I'm remarkably sensitive. If I'm half a degree too warm, I can't sleep. So whatever mumbo jumbo is going on in there is apparently working. |

I woke up in my underwater base near Jylland. After taking a shower with water that was still contaminated with traces of natural gas from the Nordstream detonation and listening to some Aqua (Doctor Jones) in my VR replica of the Sydney Opera House, I was about to start work.
All my efforts to get productive were in vain, though, because all I could think about was womankind's struggle with invaders of the mycotic kind. I had been lethargically sitting on my Lydรฅs for hours, hoping someone would come and free me from that thought prison by telling me about their gf's yeast infection when, finally, my prayers were answered. Egarran, my knight in shining armor, had arrived - or so I thought.
Oh, woe is me! What cruelty drove this man to attach conditions to spilling the details I had been longing for so eagerly? Had he been conspiring with Smok all along, planting that Nolanian seed, knowing full well the lack of graphic descriptions would torture me to no end?

Woke up at 5 in extreme pain again, my voice is coming back but it seems like my throat is going to take more time to heal, took a lot of painkillers again, and been using an ice pack on my throat the last few days,

11.17.24 | Koris where's the Haley review!! |
Trifolium
11.18.24 | Oooof sounds painful Trundle.
Baked bread again! Also baked the cork pan coaster. Thought the bread or the parchment paper was on fire at first. The coaster came out all coaly and smouldering. The bread tastes fine though! |
Egarran
11.18.24 | Haha, classic. Another reason why we shouldn't use plastic in the kitchen.
I want to get Pan baked. |
Demon of the Fall
11.18.24 | "Slavifying a name is a sign of manly friendship."
Arsovich sounds cool. Can mine be Demonisabich?

oh, we have a connoisseur in our midst! Excellent choice good sir |
Egarran
11.18.24 | Just did some garden clean-up work before the frost sets in. Now the only thing left is digging up potatoes.
Funny how slow time passes outside, compared to say the 30 minutes I used to make my party in bg3 jump down from a bridge without dying. |
Pangea
11.18.24 | "I want to get Pan baked"
i thought you were talking about me for a sec and was wondering what kind of caco discussion i missed |
Demon of the Fall
11.18.24 | notice the capitalisation of "Pan"
so maybe this does refer to yourself?
I mean it's Ega, if we take the slang for 'baked' this yearning is definitely on brand. I don't think he wants to turn you into bread |
denboy
11.18.24 | i want pan o shoggolat |
Trifolium
11.18.24 | Could be true Demon, yet Eggy is onto something there.
The French word for bread, Pain, is eerily close to our beloved's Supercontinental name...
Pan with chocolate yes! |
Egarran
11.18.24 | Yeah no I want to get high with Pan. |
Demon of the Fall
11.18.24 | They definitely overthought this |
Egarran
11.18.24 | The other day I smoked a joint that was stronger than expected and it was so blissful and nice and I want Pan to experience that because it is very useful for scientists. |
Pangea
11.18.24 | I haven't smoked weed in over 4 years (and only have done so a few times in a social setting), but i'll get back into it 4 you ega |
Egarran
11.18.24 | โฅโฅโฅ It will not be social, it will be an introspective journey to open the mind and contemplate unorthodox angles into the material plane. โฅโฅโฅ |
Pangea
11.19.24 | Can't wait ๐ฅฐ |
Trifolium
11.20.24 | Good. I will trip sit and bake things.
What is your opinion on Wednesdays? |
Pangea
11.20.24 | Wednesdays i play d&d (or other board games if we cannot) so it is a good day
This particular wednesday there is a day for the institute which is also pretty good
What are your wednesday thoughts triffy? |
Trifolium
11.20.24 | My thoughts are:
- 'Wet snow' (mixture of rain and snow) falling during bike ride to the pool
- Very crowded pool
- Forgot my work stuff at home
- Cycled back home through the wet snow
- Cycled to work through the wet snow
- When I was nearly there I noticed my tire was flat
- I am all drenched and cold at work with a flat tire
- There is coffee
- I hope writing this article I'm working on is going to go ultra smoothly now!!!!!
๐ต๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ |
Pangea
11.20.24 | Oh no! I hope no more issues for you today! |
Trifolium
11.20.24 | SAME!!!
Your day sounds lovely though, I'm (warning: incoming Tool word) vicariously enjoying it. |
Demon of the Fall
11.20.24 | vicariously is a good word!
are you pronouncing it vee, or vye?
oh, not an ideal start Trif, commiserations!
I wanted to run at 6am this morning but also didn't because it was 'feels like' -7c and the fear of these conditions unfortunately overcame my desires |
Egarran
11.20.24 | Snooooowwww! YAY. It is indeed melting now, but soon I shall also cycle through it to visit mother and get drunk.
Happy d&d Pan. I killed a bulette yesterday in the Underdark. Next up is some stupid duergar dwarves that made the myconoids angry. You don't make the myconoids angry, man. |
CugnoBrasso
11.20.24 | The forecast calls for heavy snow here as well tomorrow... I was planning to attend a conference about fascism, we will see how dedicated I am to the cause! I might just stay at home and drink hot chocolate. |
Pangea
11.20.24 | Nice ega! We were only with the three of us today so played wingspan and muffin time instead. It was a good time
The big life choices, fasicms or hot chocolate |
Trundle
11.20.24 | there was a huge storm in my stomping grounds last night, 120km/hr wind. we were spared the brunt of it though, lucky to not lose power. |
Trifolium
11.21.24 | Vye because Maynard was my(e) first time hearing it Demon!
The day went better in the end because I got a lot of writing done.
Sounds tough Trundle. |
denboy
11.21.24 | until that tool song i thought it was pronounced visariously
so it blew my mind in more than one way |
Demon of the Fall
11.21.24 | just realised I most often use a shortened 'vi' ('vee' doesn't seem right now) but I think either vi or vye is correct(?) - although vye seems more American and I am not? idk
"I was planning to attend a conference about fascism, we will see how dedicated I am to the cause!"
did you go? Hope they accepted you as a budding fascist |
CugnoBrasso
11.21.24 | Conference was lit, fascists simp for a version of the Roman empire that basically never existed. I was accepted as a budding fascist but my past militancy in left-wing groups is a stain on my resume. |
CugnoBrasso
11.21.24 | Also, I just took this picture. Truly a northern southern European moment: https://i.postimg.cc/nLvK4By8/photo-2024-11-21-22-17-40.jpg |
Trifolium
11.21.24 | So that beautiful image full of contrast is a nice visual representation of you at the conference then Cugno?
|
CugnoBrasso
11.21.24 | Yahhp, my hot palm tree-like spirit was covered with the coldness of fascism and its made up historical facts. Didn't even have hot chocolate in the end, an evening to forget. |
fogza
11.22.24 | If I want to get into fascism, what would your recommendations be for a late autumn / early winter capsule collection? I always seem to go for neutrals and utilitarian pieces in my wardrobe and I'd like to spice things up |
CugnoBrasso

Egarran
11.22.24 | Damn the coffee is good today. I slept really well and there's still lots of snow outside, I feel such joy. Oh oh and there's a new Opeth YAAAY.
Here's hoping Trump will bring back red capes. |
StormChaser
11.22.24 | amazing Eg, hopefully we get some snow down here too, it's all rain in Croatia for now |

11.22.24 | Proper winter was not on my bingo card.

11.22.24 | Y'all keep hyping up snow season. I totally get it, but what I really want in my life rfn is an update on that yeast infection. |
StormChaser
11.22.24 | man I've been itching for snow for YEARS now, all we get is like a half day here or two days there. it's been depressing how little snow there is now as opposed to how it used to be like 15+ years ago |
Egarran
11.22.24 | Nex, it's all gone! Yet another reason for joy.
Yeah Storm, apparently the heat is coming back soon, so I'm really trying to soak it in. But we can always hope the Gulf Stream collapses so winter will be permanent. |
denboy
11.22.24 | "man I've been itching for snow for YEARS now"
you sure it isn't a yeast infection? |
Demon of the Fall
11.22.24 | or cocaine addiction? |

11.22.24 | Or an Informer earworm? |
StormChaser
11.22.24 | "But we can always hope the Gulf Stream collapses so winter will be permanent."
here's hoping man. funny thing is like 20 minutes after I said it's just raining here, it turned to snow. so FUCK YEAH, but it'll all be gone come morning as per usual |
Egarran
11.22.24 | The prayers worked! |
CugnoBrasso
11.22.24 | I bought a Darkglass Microtubes pedal two months ago to get a better bass tone in my mixes and I just discovered that it's also available as a plugin and that I could have bought that one instead. Kill me. |
NexCeleris
11.22.24 | That's like having buyer's remorse after a night with a high-end escort, because you discovered pornhub the next morning. Killer pedal. |
CugnoBrasso
11.22.24 | Pedal is killer and it sounds amazing, but if I had the plugin I could compress the bass track before going into the Microtubes and it would sound more consistent.
|
Koris
11.23.24 | "Koris where's the Haley review!!"
Coming out tonight, with the Review a Random Album writeup soon to follow. I think I'm finally reaching the other side with my IRL stuff, so it's back to business again ๐๐๐ |
Trifolium
11.23.24 | Good good good quality convo.
Breakfast time! |
CugnoBrasso
11.23.24 | I also had breakfast this morning (got up after 8), I had coffee with a couple of Spekulatius biscuits. Christmas vibes. |
Egarran
11.23.24 | Speculative biscuit? No, spekulatius is related to the Latin word speculum, meaning "mirror." Since the cookies are formed in a bas-relief carved wooden mold, a mirror image of the mold becomes the cookie. |
CugnoBrasso
11.23.24 | Spekulatius sunt speculum vitae.
I flexed 100 % of my Latin knowledges. |

11.23.24 | Oh wow Eggy thanks for that lesson! I've never known why we call them speculaas, although it's one of my fave cookies. Really beautiful name origin and indeed, everyone in NL has those wooden speculaas molds. |
Egarran
11.23.24 | Now you know how to break the ice at the next dinner party.
Hope we hear from Phero soon, his football team just gave him a 90 minute blowjob. |

11.24.24 | 90 minutes? the sploosh'll go to the other side of the field |

11.24.24 | For breakfast I've been having porridge with black treacle and sunflower seeds, if I don't fancy treacle I usually have cinnamon. It's a nice wintry meal. |

11.26.24 | Cleaning ovens is easy. Stuff in there will eventually turn to easily disposable ash, just remember to open all the windows until then, and turn off the smoke detector. |

denboy
11.28.24 | I believe this is what you seek ๐ฆ |
Trifolium
11.28.24 | No that is a bacterium... Here you see little viruses infecting the big huge sucker (not even to scale, it would be 1:100-1000): https://imgur.com/a/xJLeIzl
And human cells are even more huge compared to those two.
Viruses ~ 100 nanometres
Bacteria ~ 1 micrometre
Animal cells ~ 0.1 millimetre
So it's factor 10-4 (animals), 10-5 to 10-6 (bacteria), and 10-7 to 10-8 (virusses). They're really small little suckers. |
Pangea
11.28.24 | I saw a mite yesterday that was 0.1 mm in total yesterday. I wonder how big their cells were? |
Trifolium
11.28.24 | Haha yeah. All of them have a plus 1,000 minus a 1,000 error margin, and not even that is true...
