Paramore/Hayley Williams Ranked

I once tried to rank every Paramore song...then failed miserably because I ended up forgetting like 6 of them. Since Hayley Williams now has a couple of solo releases, I figured I'd rank them all together to see how they stack up to Paramore's discography!

What's the opposite of an album growing on you? I don't know if there's necessarily a word for it, but that's what this album has done to me. It was a pleasant listen the first time around, but it has very little staying power. The songs sound nice enough, but they all run together after a while.

Highlights: Over Those Hills, Just a Lover

For an EP with such a high average, this is pretty forgettable.

Highlights: O Star, This Circle

After Laughter

I've already vocalized my thoughts on this album, and I know I'm in the minority. I can admit that this album has grown on me ever so slightly, but I still think this is Paramore's weakest LP.

Highlights: Rose Colored Boy, Fake Happy, Idle Worship

All We Know Is Falling

A very solid debut album. Sure it hasn't aged graciously, but there's still some slappin' songs on here.

Highlights: Emergency, Brighter, Conspiracy, My Heart

I never understood the hate this album got. Sure it's not all perfect, but not many albums are. I think this is very similar to Williams' debut album: there's a lot of good songs to be found but they could've trimmed some of the weaker tracks to make this a more solid overall release.

Highlights: Part II, Last Hope, Still Into You, Future, Hate to See Your Heart Break

Riot!

In middle school I ADORED this album and it's hard not to have some nostalgia bias. I can admit that their songwriting is inconsistent, but the energy and passion on this album is so easy to fall in love with.

Highlights: For a Pessimist...,Misery Business, Let the Flames Begin, Born For This

Petals for Armor

I think this is a highly underrated pop album. Like I said before, this album would've benefitted from a bit of trimming (no reason for this to be 15 tracks), but Williams does a great job showcasing her musical talent here. I think the marketing for this was absolutely terrible though. Who the heck releases two thirds of an album before the album even drops??

Highlights: Cinnamon, Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris, Crystal Clear, Dead Horse, Sugar on the Rim

Not much to say about this 4-track release; Monster is a top-3 song of theirs, and the rest are incredibly solid. You'd be hard-pressed to find a Paramore fan who doesn't like this EP.

Highlights: Monster, Hello Cold World, Renegade

Brand New Eyes

I'll admit this now: BNE is one of my favorite albums ever, and to me, is one of the best pop-punk albums of all time. The band's deteriorating relationship at the time led to some of their best songwriting ever. Overall, BNE will likely always be Paramore's peak, and it's hard to find faults with this release.

Highlights: Brick By Boring Brick, Turn it Off, Ignorance, All I Wanted, Decode
