| Best & Worst Things About Infinity War (Spoilers!)
This list contains spoilers about the film "Avengers: Infinity War". Overall, I really liked the film, but there were some things I also had issues with. The list contains both pluses and minuses. | 16 | | Valkyrie Valkyrie
Worst: The film doesn't make clear what happened to some of the characters on the Asgardian ship, like Valkyrie, Korg and Skurge. If you just watched the film, you'd have to assume they all died during Thanos' attack on their ship, but the Russo Brothers have already affirmed that at least Valkyrie lived. | 15 | | White Lies Friends
Worst: The pre-film lies, such as the pretense that this isn't really a two-part movie, or the preview scene with The Hulk charging forward with the other heroes in Wakanda. You don't have to tell us everything, but don't LIE to us. | 14 | | Ebony Tears Evil as Hell
Best: The death of Ebony Maw. People in the audience applauded when he died. | 13 | | Missing Persons The Best of Missing Persons
Worst: The exclusion of Hawkeye and Ant-Man. Yeah, they're not the best heroes, but the OCD in me wanted them included. | 12 | | Chemistry Trinity
Best: The interplay between Iron Man, Dr. Strange and Spider-man. | 11 | | Solar Quest Acid Air Raid
Worst: The Thor quest. The quest itself was OK, the interplay between Thor, Rocket and Groot was good, but it really felt the whole time like this was just a made-up quest to give this group something to do. | 10 | | Killing Joke Pylon
Best: The humor. Most of the jokes worked for me (especially the ones involving Drax and Mantis), with one glaring exception. See #2 . | 9 | | My Chemical Romance The Black Parade
Worst: Not enough cinematic foreshadowing of the Vision/Scarlet Witch romance. Not the worst thing, since comic book readers knew it was coming, but so far, in the films, Vision seemed awkward and a little stalkerish with her in past films, while she seemed to be fond of him as a teammate but also annoyed by him. | 8 | | Valient Thorr Old Salt
Best: Good Thor moments throughout. Chris Hemsworth has been given the material in the last couple of films to really step forward to share the spotlight with Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans. He has some good comedic moments (like when he repeatedly refers to Rocket as "Rabbit"), but more importantly, he has some greatt heroic action moments. | 7 | | Daughter Not to Disappear
Worst: No foreshadowing of the Thanos/Gamora relationship. This is a more egregious shortcoming than #9, particularly when it comes to Thanos. We were never given a clue before that he had the capacity to actually love someone. | 6 | | Epica The Quantum Enigma
Best: The whole epicness of the movie. This is a very large film, which groups itself logically into various big segments, e.g. the Battle of New York, the Battle of Scotland, etc. It feels like it's on the same scale as something like The Lord of the Rings trilogy or the original Star Wars trilogy, and that's some impressive company. | 5 | | Jori Hulkkonen Errare Machinale Est
Worst: The treatment of The Hulk. I guess they'll fix this in the next film, but this was one of the larger weaknesses of the film. First, The Hulk's absence throughout most of the film after the opening sequence was disappointing. But the way it was done was worse, making it appear he was refusing to come out because he was afraid after getting thrashed by Thanos, which is way out of character. The directors have since indicated that what they were going for was a battle between Banner and The Hulk where The Hulk is telling Banner F.U. because Banner only uses him when he needs muscle. This is more in character, but the film did a bad job of showing it. | 4 | | Thanos Anestopoulos Ως Το Τέλος + 10 Ακυκλοφόρητα Κομμάτια
Best: Thanos. The character was well-written and well-acted. Kudos to the Kevin Feige and the Marvel Universe for building us up to this film in such a way that we already know all of the heroes, so whatever time there is for character building can be spent on Thanos. It's good to see a villain done right for once. It makes all the difference between an OK action film and a really good one. | 3 | | Reincarnation Void
Worst: The fake deaths. Maybe it was unavoidable, but the fact that we know that the heroes who disappeared into ashes are all coming back (because half of them have already begun work on their individual sequels) really lessened the impact of what would have otherwise been a devastating ending. | 2 | | Goofy's Holiday Goofy's Holiday
Worst: The whole bit between Thor and Star-Lord where Star-Lord is supposed to be trying to make himself sound like Thor. This was a case of a scene that got so silly and slapstick that it really took me out of the movie. It was the film's most awkward moment. | 1 | | Oh Captain My Captain Stopping A Train With My Bare Hands
Best: While I agree that Captain America was otherwise underutilized, the best individual moment in the film for me was Cap's first appearance. Vision is injured, Scarlet Witch is getting ready to fight Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, but she knows and the audience knows she's probably not strong enough to take them both. Then you see a dark figure over the Witch's shoulder, who is immediately obscured by a passing train, and you, Midnight and Glaive strain your vision until he comes into focus -- it's Captain America! Chilling and heroic moment if you're a fellow comic book geek! Well done, Russos. | |

05.09.18 | So what happens now on the Marvel TV shows? Do half of the Agents of S.H.I.I.E.L.D. just disappear for a season. How about the Netflix Defenders characters? It's all supposed to be within the same universe. | Papa Universe
05.09.18 | yo, Skruge died in Ragnarok | Divaman
05.09.18 | Did he? I have to watch it again. I thought he made it to the ship with them. | Divaman
05.09.18 | Damn, you're right! Totally forgot that scene. Well, Valkyrie and Korg, anyway. I hope they include Valkyrie joining The Avengers in the next film. | Papa Universe
05.09.18 | also, your number one pick is hardly anywhere close to my favourite moment. that'll probably be either Thanos in red haze after he snapped his fingers, the final ashening and Thanos chilling in his cabin in Tirol (or what's that place) and Thanos turning back time on Vision's death. | CakeWithCream
05.09.18 | I agree I didn't like the intro, I think Thanos' ship was even just a post-credits scene in Ragnarok so turning a post-credits scene into shitting on everything from Ragnarok is kind of a big jump. The Black Order were pretty underwhelming but I guess it's better to give our heroes some small victories instead of getting smacked around by Thanos the whole time. Also they gotta chill w/ the hundreds of pop-culture references. | Papa Universe
05.09.18 | Ebony Maw was the only actually interesting character in the Black Order, or at least his zealotry and quirky voice/delivery. | Divaman
05.09.18 | So ya saw that part where I said it was the best moment "for me", right Papa U? As an aside, I didn't think Thanos looked all that happy chilling at his cabin, how about you? (It was a good moment, though). | Zeuzo
05.09.18 | I don’t feel...so good... | Papa Universe
05.09.18 | I think he looked genuinely satisfied, but since we never had the chance to see him that at peace, he may have seemed a tad off. But I think it's just because we're not used to that.
Also, the entire Cap. America team (with Widow, Falcon, Bucky, War Machine) is probably the most boring ensemble in the film. | Divaman
05.09.18 | Not in Scotland, though (at least not for me). Wakanda was a let-down, especially because Banner never Hulked out. | thecheatisnotdead
05.09.18 | I thought the whole sequence on Titan was very well-executed, including Starlord's disastrous derailing of his own plan (which I find a lot more defensible than many seem to).
However, my biggest gripe with the film is that, even though we're all pretty well and truly sure the folks who turned to ash will be back with us come 2019, I wish Quill hadn't been among their ranks, chiefly since it doesn't really leave him very much time whatsoever to dwell on the dire consequences of his hotheadedness before he gets to just drift out of existence. | TheSpirit
05.09.18 | i haven't read this list yet, but i saw the album you picked for 16 and needed to give you props | Papa Universe
05.09.18 | dunno, for me it was the exact opposite, Scotland was dreary and forgettable and Wakanda was colourful and ecstatic. | Divaman
05.09.18 | I didn't have a problem with the Quill meltdown either. | InFlamesWeThrash666
05.09.18 | One of the best superhero movies...3.5/5 | TheNotrap
05.09.18 | THANOS is definitely the highlight. | Space Jester
05.09.18 | I thought Quill’s meltdown was dumb at first but lookin back it was totally justified. He had to make the painstaking decision to kill the woman he loved at her request in order to save the universe, only for that to be thwarted by Thanos. Then Thanos gets the soul stone and Gamora dies anyway. I think it’s safe to say that Quill was not capable of thinking straight at that point. | thecheatisnotdead
05.10.18 | Yeah, I feel like it's extremely easy for the audience to Monday-morning-quarterback what a stupid move he made by flying off the handle, but in reality, it felt like one of the truest-to-character beats in the entire movie, especially given the full weight of its catalyst(s).
Plus, if you wanted to get really granular and pedantic about it, Quill's actions were only one piece of the chain reaction that led to Thanos's plan coming to fruition (at least temporarily), so the volume of "rah rah, that idiot ruined everything!" rhetoric out there seems pretty silly to me.
Still, with all that being said and to my initial point, I feel like having more time and real estate in the second film to explore him dealing with the fallout is a major missed opportunity. | guitarded_chuck
05.10.18 | mindless entertainment, mass hypnosis | neekafat
05.10.18 | solid 9/10 for me, still it's slowly slipping
All great points here, only thing that didn't bother me was 7
And the Star-Lord fuck up was entirely idiotic | Papa Universe
05.10.18 | even if foreseen by Strange? | butcherboy
05.10.18 | the names of those movies are getting more and more honest.. next one will be called Avengers:this shit will go on forever, hand me some money, chum. | Papa Universe
05.10.18 | Avengers: The Plotrecyclator | butcherboy
05.10.18 | avengers: THORange you glad you saw the same movie seventeen times.. | thecheatisnotdead
05.10.18 | THORange Hulk: An Exclusive, Nonsensical Twice-the-Normal-Price Funko Pop! Vinyl coming soon to a Big Lots! (and Big Lots! exclusively) not all that near you! | butcherboy
05.10.18 | Captain 'Murica hangs around JFK, gives prostate checks to all who look suspicious: A love story | CygnusX1
05.10.18 | The fake deaths were the worst. It could have been a really heavy hitting end to the movie, but knowing that most of them will come back makes it not really matter. If Iron Man died or Capt Murica it would have been more impactful | MeatSalad
05.10.18 | I was annoyed they didn't have the balls to kill off iron man after that fight scene | polyrhythm
05.11.18 | Worst: spending the whole runtime of this movie (and a good portion of the previous eighteen) building up to a devastating character cull, which is just going to get reversed in the next movie anyway.
Best: how good-looking and fun it was, for the most part. The humour that worked was great. I admire their commitment to long-form storytelling on this unprecedented a scale. Thanos was actually a half-decent villain. Also optimistic about the back-to-basics of the next film, with just the original Avengers pretty much left standing. They have had years to plan this, so hopefully they can undo the events of Infinity War without it being a convoluted, unsatisfactory shitshow. Fingers crossed.
6 or 7/10 movie, mostly for pure mindless entertainment value. | Space Jester
05.11.18 | I don’t its really see as mindless entertainment. I guess in the end it mostly comes down to fun action but it’s definitely a few pegs above shit like Transformers. Marvel has at least tried to do some interesting things |
