05.27.24 | Based Frizzle Fry enjoyer. In my opinion, it's Primus' best album. |
cylinder
05.27.24 | agreed, by a fair margin imo |
Hyperion1001

Not thinking about it too hard is defo the way to do these imo anyway otherwise it’s headache including and pedantic and kills the heart of it. |

jrlikestodance
05.27.24 | Awesome picks! Really happy to see Dear You, Geogaddi, Everything Goes Numb and Frizzle Fry especially. Amnesiac this high up is also insanely based |
anode
05.27.24 | Don’t like any of this except 12, 59, 82, 91 |
cylinder
05.27.24 | minus the ones you haven’t heard of course |
FowlKrietzsche
05.27.24 | Really loving 33, excited to bite into what else is here |

exactly, agreed 100%

05.27.24 | I’ve heard around half of em lol. Most of the others have genre tags / ratings that puts them on my no check list |
cylinder
05.27.24 | dang :( |

05.27.24 | I’ll check some later dawg |

05.27.24 | added genre tags |

05.27.24 | I love Public Strain and Geogaddi. Nice list dude! |
lols
05.27.24 | dead c good shout
dudes tear up live |
lols
05.27.24 | storm and stress pretty good too for knock off don cab |
anode
05.27.24 | Only stuff that appealed to me that I hadn’t heard was the noise/experimental stuff and it wasn’t even Boris esque dissonance headed to a crescendo, just nails on chalk board going nowhere music. What do you play when you have someone in the car with you? I’m assuming just 11 over and over again and I guess no one could complain |
lols
05.27.24 | vomir in the car go hard as fuck bro don’t trip
claustration on a 5 hour drive the pinnacle |
lols
05.27.24 | driving along a freeway with no fear of death is a beautiful thing |
GiaNXGX
05.27.24 | nice to see Quartet, surprised to see bladee so high |
cylinder
05.27.24 | "knock off don cab"
better than don cab imo
i still haven't heard Claustration lol, i need to amend that. I love Proanomie tho
@anode
you're right, Boris is the peak of experimental/noise. What do I play when someone's in the car with me? Strictly harsh noise obviously |
mkmusic1995
05.27.24 | Very nice! I like this quite a bit and I'll have to check out some of the ones I've never heard of |
anode
05.27.24 | I’d take it over the national tbh appreciate the list but like the grind list I guess we just look at music differently |
cylinder
05.27.24 | @lols
me and one other guy are the only ratings above 3.5 on that Dead C album smh
@Hawks, myri, and mkmusic
Thanks, guys! Cheers! |
Winesburgohio
05.28.24 | i would call don cab knock-off storm and stress if forced but to each their own
man I've been going to Dead C shows for almost 20 years and they're still just as beyond good live as they ever were (unless the drummer has one too many beforehand but it's happened to the best of us). just a stupidly good band. i will relisten to trouble... |
JohnnyoftheWell
05.28.24 | track 2 on 75 is lowkey the peak of ambient pop lfg
is 30 fun or very much not fun, I'm getting mixed signals |
cylinder
05.28.24 | @Johnny
agreed, and track 3 is also a worthy contender
and the mixed signals are understandable haha. personally i think it's very fun all the way through, but more realistically, it has its fun parts and its share of patience-testing, tinnitus-inducing passages as well haha. remarkable tho how it retains its playful spirit even in that kind of territory |
cylinder
05.28.24 | @Wines
man i'd pay hundreds to see the Dead C. sounds incredible |
JohnnyoftheWell
05.28.24 | Oh lol, I purely meant from the art/title combo - but okay fab, kinda Kazumoto Endo m.o. but actual pop? |
cylinder
05.28.24 | i could've phrased what i said better, but i meant that the mixed signals you got from the cover equally apply to the music - in other words, good intuition haha.
and not quite that harsh, more sine wavey, like Toshimaru Nakamura and Sachiko M, that kind of thing. mixed with art pop and some folk/rock stylings here and there too. honestly one of the most unique albums i've come across |
lols
05.28.24 | saw dead c at the atp in Melbourne way back when I was in my teens and they blew everyone else out the water
was fucking hilarious because the whole crowd went to watch Godspeed so basically had the front row to myself |
cylinder
05.28.24 | that's fucking dope dude, what an awesome memory |
lols
05.28.24 | best part is they were actually loud
half the bands that played must’ve had their amps at like 6/10 volume and in a big fuckin warehouse the shit ended up echoey and muddled as fuck
mbv were hilariously bad too
out of time and sync with each other for half the set
drummer looked bored out of his mind was doing all the fills one handed lmao |
cylinder
05.28.24 | damn that's a shame about mbv lol. doesn't surprise me tho that the dead c were the ones that got it right |
Winesburgohio
05.28.24 | lmao pretty much exactly the same in Wellington i saw Gate open for GY!BE and even though only about 7 people bothered to join the floor and he cleaned the floor with them. MBV in Sydney were great but like pretty much exclusively played songs from Loveless, which it was clear they weren't that interested in. kinda wish i'd seen them more sloppy.
cylinder you me and lols gonna attend one together one day take heart. i think their going-rate to play is 1,500, from memory, although they may have adjusted for inflation |
Winesburgohio
05.28.24 | yeah i did Trouble dirty, unfortunately i associate it with being totally cracked but i'm sure i can create new synaptic pathways ! |
Dedes
05.28.24 | Ty for reminding me to check Gris
Would hear them pop up from time to time on spotify and thought hmmm this is pleasant and sad I should jam this |
cylinder
05.28.24 | yeah that album is incredible. pretty easily the best depressive bm i've heard |
cylinder
05.28.24 | Update: The Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place (98) got dropped for Extra Life’s Secular Works, an egregious omission. No disrespect to The Earth.. of course, still top 150 |
lols
05.29.24 | list needs sgp |
cylinder
05.29.24 | "cylinder you me and lols gonna attend one together one day take heart."
this sounds like a dream i would have lmao. better start up a gofundme for my plane ticket lol
"list needs sgp"
i'm blanking, sgp? |
lols
05.29.24 | spaceghostpurrp bruh
dark angels, intoxxxicated or veneno could easily slot in |

05.29.24 | oh nice, been meaning to check his stuff for a while now. thanks for the recz |
cylinder
05.30.24 | i'd be curious to see what other Talking Heads fans think of my redone tracklist for Remain in Light |
Winesburgohio
05.31.24 | Seen and Not Seen is possibly my favourite on that album but I don't think it works as a closer. Otherwise: approbation |
FowlKrietzsche
05.31.24 | The Dead C are really cool damn |
Winesburgohio
05.31.24 | best band ever fr
i simply *love* that your #1 pick is your #1 pick. unusual but entirely worthy |
cylinder
06.03.24 | (sorry for the late response, Wines) "but I don't think it works as a closer. "
sad, that's my favorite part of my tracklist : ( hahaha. i love how it kinda makes you think more is coming and then it just ends. "he wonders if he too might've made a similar mistake..." and then... it's over. plus i really didn't like the album ending with The Overload, always felt like there should be one more song after, a cleanser.
and on the #1 pick, yeah, that album's got it all for me. it's a satisfying feeling to have an album where i can say, "yeah, that's my favorite of all time." before i found that album, i don't think i had one really. |
Jash
06.05.24 | So much goodness in this list! I really wish your #1 hit me as hard as it hits you considering how much a love A Complete Guide…
Also, saw you mention Hval as a personal hero in the comments, have you read any of her books? If not, and books are your thing, I highly recommend you do |
