iPim 10.08.10	I actually can not stand black metal at all, those vocals alone. The genre with the most terrifying image and highest noise output would win, so I'm going for black metal because they have the whole painted faced and blood and antichristianity.

I couldn't imagine black metal becoming a popular genre even if you added catchy as shi- choruses to the shrieks and tremolo picking.

I didn't say there were no extreme metalcore bands, but for the most part, there isn't (compared to others forms of metal), at least from the bands I've heard.
Emim 10.08.10	Metalcore is pretty mainstream, but realize that doesn't mean that it's on the radio (unless you're talking satellite radio). Last year though, they were playing stuff like All that Remains and Five Finger Death Punch. To say that metalcore isn't mainstream is pretty off-base.

Tbh i dont think much of the public would have a clue what ambient and drone is but i agree. Ive actually shown people quite a bit of post rock and they seem to enjoy it, so i disagree. I think post rock is pretty appealing to the general public, as long as it isnt godspeed you black emperor or anything.

Some bands I can think of: Fall of Efrafa Latitudes Time to Burn" Fall Of Efrafa is the closest you'll get to crust out of those three. Brume Retina is sceamo, their latest album "Agresse Gueule" just has a lot of crust influence. Latitudes and Time To Burn are sludgy post-metal bands. if you want crust go with bands like: Alpinist Downfall Of Gaia Perth Express La Casa Fantom Zann Ekkaia Skitsystem Martyrdod look up the crust label on last.fm it'll list a fuck load of bands for you to check out
