00's What I Missed

The second half of the 00's were kind of a dead half of a decade for me. most of the radio rock bands really soured me on music causing me to turn within. I mostly went backwards looking for good stuff I might have missed, looking towards the bizarre and purchasing any new releases by groups I already knew in hopes they would continue putting out the good stuff I had become accustomed too. Sometimes they did and sometimes they did not. We have a decent Alt rock radio station here so I'm not completely oblivious to the possibly decent stuff I missed out on. Perhaps you have a favorite or two I should try, no? Bands like Chevelle, Fuel and disturbed can seriously lick my sack. These fucking bottom feeders made me miserable any time I even tried to listen to the radio for years. List is albums from the 00's that I am getting around to for the first time. I'm generally familiar with their singles but I've never heard the albums in there entirety until now.
1BATS
Red In Tooth and Claw

I fucking love this album, the EP from 07' is almost as good.
2Arctic Monkeys
Whatever People Say I Am....

I had of course heard of these guys before but I was surprised as to how
many of these songs I was already familiar with.
3Arctic Monkeys
Favourite Worst Nightmare

Same as last description.
4Interpol
Turn on the Bright Lights

/facepalm, friends this is not good imho. You might as well dust off some
80's Depeche Mode, New Order and about a dozen others I could name
and get the real deal. How this gets a 4.2 is beyond me but to each his
own I guess. I still enjoyed Obstacle 1 which I think was the single off of it
but a whole album of this is just a snore fest.
5Rival Schools
United By Fate

This was a rec from my brother in-law and I was surprised to find myself
liking this quite a bit.
6Poison The Well
You Come Before You

It's okay.... sorry but that's it.
7Norma Jean
O' God The Aftermath

I was assure that there was no reason to go beyond "Bless The Martyr,
And Kiss The Child" but I disagree. I like there sophomore effort as much as
I did their freshman release.
8Rodrigo y Gabriela
11:11

It's rare that a band actually get better with every release but these guys
are doing it admirably. If you have yet to hear these guys start with this
one or the s/t and for gods sake do it now.
9Kite Party
Wish Mountain

These guys remind me of a really loose combination of Spoon and The Hold
Steady.
10The King Blues
Under The Fog

Of course the only reason I know of these guys is because of there release
from this year. Despite Josh being their primary cheerleader I have to admit
I like them quite a bit.
