Hyperion1001 07.18.12	i am lucky enough to be able to cover what i owe for college with a mixture of scholarships and what my parents can pay however i still think student loans are fucking enraging. go to college to ensure your future! by the time you're out youll be at least 25k in debt and probably not have a job in anything related to your field so FUCK YOU
Acanthus 07.18.12	I'm down a little bit over 19k, not terribly afraid of the debt (as I can only do so much about it, why fret more than I should?) but I do enjoy it being held off for the time being. I've only been at this job 5 months now, a little job security and money for me goes a long way when it comes to living comfortably.

Acanthus 07.18.12	Nope, not a bit; working in a kitchen is something I'm good at, but I don't enjoy it. Didn't complete school either, was running out of money so I stopped going in order to find a job sooner (not sure if it worked or not). I didn't know what I was going for at the time, as I didn't have to declare quite yet; nothing seemed interesting enough at the lower levels to make me stay with that major long.

Acanthus 07.18.12	I debate going back a lot, but what I've carved outside of college is fun and could develop into something more depending on work ethic and circumstance.
profoundword 07.18.12	Is 25k pretty average where you guys are? Seems like a lot to me, I'll be about 12/13 down after I finish undergrad, then a few more if I do honours. Fuck 25
syffuf25 07.18.12	Have two student loans that won't be paid off for another four years. Work two jobs to cover rent, loans, cell phone etc... and the best part, I went into a dying field. At least I was able to get a job in that field though.
Rail 07.18.12	I'll owe around £17,000 after I finish my MA. Fortunately I don't have to start repayment until I'm earning over £21,000 (which is looking like never, right now). The only income I've got at the moment is for the odd article I write.
Wolfhorde 07.18.12	Hot damn. Every year we hear how much our school system in Germany sucks but holy shit that American system sounds basically just like a big fuckover if your parents aren't loaded.

MO 07.18.12	pretty much wolf it's reallllly ridiculous how fucked the system is here, on top of charging insane amounts the quality of the education is actually going way down as well. super packed classrooms with 300 or more people, a prof who could give 2 fucks basically saying just figure it out on your own, it's pretty insane makes me really question going back for a masters
Kiran 07.18.12	won't have to start paying back until i'm earning over 20k and at a very minimal incremental rate, so i'm actually pretty grateful loans have helped me get through 3 years of uni so far, although i've been very fortunate to both benefit from the swedish loan system and having paid EU fees in england from before they were tripled
johnnyblaze 07.18.12	paid my 10k of student loans back within a year of starting at my job. sucked, but at least it's over. i think masters are much different mo - teachers actually care, from what i hear.

johnnyblaze 07.18.12	agreed, mo. although, i think it's mainly just BA's.. engineers, business grads and B.Sc grads seem to be getting jobs fairly easily.. i heard that they'll pay for basic living expenses in addition to tuition in sweden.,.
Kiran 07.18.12	you can get 'bidrag' which is like an allowance but you still have to pay for your accommodation, books, insurance, and most living expenses

Acanthus 07.18.12	@Satellite - I tried to prove that with being homeless for a bit and all that I didn't need my parents tax information, wasn't good enough. Luckily I was able to use my mothers, since she makes less than my father, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to attend college. As screwy as the American system is, you have to be 25 before you can even stop using your parents income as a basis of your financial aid (at least in my state). It's ridiculous.
