05.17.14 | "Do You Listen To Music Based On The Weather?
So for an example.. do you listen to certain kinds of genres and artists, based on the atmosphere?"
great example!! |
Calc
05.17.14 | but yes. |
Judio!
05.17.14 | Eh, not really. Time of day sure but generally not weather. |
LambsBread
05.17.14 | Not always but I think so (i just flip through shuffle til I find something that sparks my interest -
but im sure my interest has to do with the weather and time of day - like I would never listen to Bob
Marley - I Can See Clearly Now on a rainy day or Eligh - Maybe So on a sunny day. |

05.17.14 | The weather in my area isn't changing enough for that but I occassionally throw in some Burial songs whenever rains, esp when it's night, shit fits perfectly |
Muisc4Life26
05.17.14 | True, some artists for example Kate Bush, Nat King Cole, Moby.. are so much better in the night time. Day time is mostly for my good vibin music. |

05.17.14 | For me it has to do more with periods or stages of my life. There might be periods (days or weeks) where I listen to the blues, then psych or prog and then doom.
So my preferences don't change because of the weather, with the exception of extremes of course. If it's snowing for example, I can't listen to The Wailers but that's it. |
MeatSalad
05.17.14 | nope |
Masochist
05.17.14 | It's more often the time of day (I have playlists for both nighttime and daytime), but if it's raining, I'm more likely to put on some mid-tempo, non-rollicking songs (Simon and Garfunkel come to mind). When it's super sunny, I'll put on some positive, feel-good music. |

Usually this.
The only weather related things I can think of is jamming some reggae when I'm in the garden and it's hot and sunny or playing techno music on long motorway night car journeys. |
insanedrexl1
05.17.14 | At daytime it's heavy metal. At night it's ambient/electronic music. |
TwigTW
05.17.14 | I like to play Enya and George Winston when it snows. |
ExcentrifugalForz
05.17.14 | if you suffer from SAD then it would be good to have a playlist |
KILL
05.17.14 | yea its a very nice sunny day today so its time for some stormtroopers of death i reckon |
JamieTwort
05.17.14 | The way you've made/worded this list and description makes it look like you think the weather and the difference between day and night are essentially the same thing. |
JamieTwort
05.17.14 | But yeah I do tend to listen to different music depending on the weather/seasons. |
Underflow
05.17.14 | My mood, the time, and the weather definitely influence what I listen to. |
Funeralopolis
05.17.14 | yes, there are certain albums that sound much better in the winter and others for the summer. Ash Borer is scary as fuck during a thunderstorm |
benkim
05.17.14 | Certainly, one of the factors that influence what I am listening to at a particular time but not exactly the main one. I guess that has to do with me living in the tropics and not having the four seasons so we have sun pretty much the whole year except in June/July where it is really cold and there are some albums that get a lot of spin time then. |
taylormemer
05.17.14 | For me, nearly every May-July, I go on a bit of a Pink Floyd binge. It's subconcious, but it's certainly a reoccuring pattern that I never seem to anticipate coming. |
Shuyin
05.17.14 | yea, autumn ftw |
titanslayer
05.17.14 | no, I'm to lazy to make playlists for different times of the year |
ChoccyPhilly
05.17.14 | Yeah, certain albums or bands. I literally cannot listen to Sigur Ros when it's sunny for example because it takes away everything I enjoy about the gloominess in it. I can rarely listen to Metal during the summer too like Opeth because it just doesn't feel right with the sun beating down on my neck. Most of my albums are for the cold seasons and I live in Britain so I love the cold. I think I'll just have to listen to Oneohtrix Point Never and Radiohead this summer :( |
ashcrash9
05.17.14 | I sure do. |
EvoHavok
05.17.14 | No, but some albums do seem more appealing on a certain weather. |
BMDrummer
05.17.14 | Sometimes. The Eye of Every Storm usually sounds better during a winter storm. |
Ricochet
06.14.14 | i like Spiderland when its raining |
