Some Wednesday-type Jams
I've had my iPod classic for like two and a half years, and I JUST found out a month or two ago that you can make On-the-Go playlists. So very helpful! So here's my shit for today. |
1 | | Wormed Exodromos
It's short enough that you're not really annoyed by the dude's vocals before it's over. |
2 | | Young and in the Way Newborn
What a killer band. |
3 | | Ash Borer Cold of Ages
So this isn't bad. I think it was in my last list that went completely unread. |
4 | | Blockheads The World is Dead |
5 | | Defeated Sanity Passages into Deformity
For such a staple band, it sure took these guys a long fucking time to get decent production on their albums. |
6 | | Devourment Conceived in Sewage |
7 | | Aborym Generator
I know these guys have a couple of badass albums, but damned if I can never remember which ones are the good ones. |
8 | | Gortuary Awakening Pestilent Beings
I just cannot kick this slam obsession. |
9 | | Incantation Vanquish to Vengeance
The other day my ipod was on shuffle, and this cool song came on, and I thought, "This is either Incantation, Mitochondrion, Denouncement Pyre, or Portal. But I'm not sure which." It was Incantation, of course. |
10 | | Impending Doom Baptized in Filth
I knocked this band for a couple of years without giving them a chance. Well, holy shit, this album goes hard. |
11 | | Melvins + Lustmord Pigs of the Roman Empire
The most deliciously evil Melvins album ever. |
12 | | Mayhem Chimera |
13 | | Plebian Grandstand How Hate is Hard to Define |
14 | | Shai Hulud Reach Beyond the Sun
This album makes me feel inspired. |
15 | | Visceral Throne Omnipotent Asperity
I guess this album proves that slam is a genre all on its own from brutal death metal, because it's sort of a fusion of the two? I don't know. But it's sick as fuck. |
16 | | Xibalba Hasta la Muerte
NO SOUL, NO IDENTITY, NO PEACE, NO SERENITY |
17 | | Weekend Nachos Worthless
These guys, Magrudergrind, and Despise You are the only PV bands I've been able to get into. |
18 | | Sonic Youth Evol
I'm not a fan of the more alternative rock stuff, but Sonic Youth's noisy early albums are awesome. |
19 | | Rotting Christ Kata Ton Daimon Eaytoy
I can't tell if I love or hate this album. I feel like they mostly just repeat the song titles as lyrics, and it's a lot more boring than than the album with all the vowels in the title. Still, though, I'm loving what most bands have put out this and last year, so I'm gonna keep drilling it into my heads. |
20 | | Old Man Gloom NO
When I bought this, it came in a cardboard case. And it's the only CD I have that came in a cardboard case. RIP Hydra Head. |
21 | | Clutch Earth Rocker
I was right, this does kick ass. Clutch is heavy AND fast? I never thought I'd see the day. |
22 | | Gojira L'Enfant Sauvage
I still really like Gojira's western album. I put this on my playlist to break up the monotony of slams. |
23 | | My Bloody Valentine M B V
For some reason, I really want to like shoegaze. I haven't heard any of this yet, but if it's as chill and loud as Loveless, then I'm sure I'll love it. |
24 | | Pathology Age of Onset |
25 | | Shadows Fall Fire From the Sky
It took Shadows Fall like two million albums to finally make one where the songs sound different from each other. Backed hard. |
26 | | Secreted Entity Horrifying Hallucinations of Ungodly Activities
Because it's slam, I think I'm allowed to find it hilarious that their vocalist is very handi-capable. I've just never seen another slam vid (or metal or ANY music, really) where the guy gurgling obscenities at you, is also in a wheelchair. Maybe that's not funny. But I sure thought it was. |
27 | | Sigh In Somniphobia
Still my favorite album of 2012. |
28 | | Guttural Secrete Reek of Pubescent Despoilment
This band is so good. Even their demo is amazing. More bands like this, please. |
