| Gian The Digger - 1/26/13
second edition of my 10-part 'gian the digger' digging series. | 1 | | (Anthony Braxton's) Circle Circulus
Corea's ensemble seamlessly alternates between freeform jazz composition motifs
and free-improvisation ones (easily heard on the III quartet pieces), this gives the
album a very avant-garde appeal. Clocking at 74 minutes with numerous
polyrhythms, abstract musique-concrete[esque] percussion, & an incredible array
of violent solos; Circulus simply is majestically colossal. | 2 | | Kjott Op.
An astonishingly overlooked post-punk gem from Norway. Kjott shines with a 10000
watts lightbulb-- All thanks to their beautiful arrangements that show similarities to
those of classic punk bands in atmosphere but that remain completely original in
delivery. T's a fun record really worth checking out, THE FLUTES MAN - THE
FLUTES. | 3 | | Time Machines Time Machines
take a look at this tracklist:
7-Methoxy-?-Carboline: (Telepathine)
2,5-Dimethoxy-4-Ethyl-Amphetamine: (DOET/Hecate)
5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyl: (5-MeO-DMT)
4-Indolol,3-[2-(Dimethylamino)Ethyl], Phosphate Ester: (Psilocybin)
^^^^^^that's how much it fucking rules. | 4 | | Bedhead WhatFunLifeWas
kinda-excellent but not so excellent more like-great slowcore :::::::enjoyable listen. | 5 | | Triarii Muse In Arms
'Deutsches Volk!
legen.
M?ge uns der Herrgott gerade in diesem Kampfe helfen! | 6 | | Archaeopteryx Ultraavantgarda Vol. 1
This is like the best thing ever that nobody listened to in 2012. Such a shame. It's
supposed to be neo-krautrock but the music has such a distinct, idiosyncratic flavor
to it. Take the german movement, run it on a melancholy industrial field, add to it
some rock in opposition, see what happened? I saw it and it's called Archaeopteryx
Ultraavantgarda. | 7 | | Weed Thief s/t
Cool stuff, nothing peculiar or experimentally impressive to be found here -however,
there's this really stoned feel to tha tape. why? well, it for the most part
amalgamates gravity bonging with power violencing hardcore bondage, which means
you should check it out, blaze it. rB-|6.5/10| G.K. never disappoints me, gnarly
bitches. | 8 | | Caarcrinolas The Egg
a forgotten experimental death metal jewel, for fans of obscura or french pals
Supuration. | 9 | | HEX II
this is what happens when you take a power electronic 8-bit remix and loop it to no
end. | 10 | | tortuganonima tortuganonima
Chileans playing some of the most chilling math-rock jams ever. like a wayfarer in a
journey through jazzy deserts & manifold time signatures; certainly awesome [yet]
intrinsically complex music. cool stuff to say that they managed to add a bit of
post-rock sauce in there without spoiling the shit out of it. | 11 | | Robbie Basho The Seal of the blue lotus
Basho's debut, along with Fahey's 'transfiguration of blind joe 'a landmark in
american primitivism music. | 12 | | Charlie Rouse Bossa Nova Bacchnal
not the best bossa-jazz I've heard but been digging it a lot lately. for fans of latin jazz, especially. | 13 | | Anathemized Paradise in the Abyss (demo tape)
polish death metal tape, really doomy and primitive-sounding, makes me think of
rippikoulu's demo having sexual intercourse with an italian death/doomy band like
maelstrom (who are also underrated, btw.) | 14 | | Susan Christie Paint a Lady
breathtaking psychedelic folk from 69', definitely worth hearing if you like vashti &
company. kinda sad.... sad... sad... | 15 | | Theodor Bastard Oikoumene
They started playing industrial noise but something weird happened along the way and they turned into
a world music / trip-hop hybrid. Fantastic album, probably their best to date.
Oikumene = 100% gypsy swag stamp approval whatev. [: i guess. | |

01.26.13 | 13 days has passed t' was bout time. | JamieTwort
01.26.13 | Nice list. Might check out 6 and 14, they sound particularly interesting. | Wolfhorde
01.26.13 | Sweet, Triarii. Although I don't really see why you copied that wall of text. | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | was joking, triarii are far-left so i figured out that if i posted a hitler speech someone would freak out. | Wolfhorde
01.26.13 | lol, I actually read the exact opposite. That Triarii would be "nazis" because they use some old German speech samples (not sure which one they use on Kameraden) or sth. like that. Also, how would anyone besides me and ilovetree know that's a Hitler speech? | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | I've heard they are far-right as well; the whole martial-industrial genre is plagued with ambiguity and speculation & you never know what to believe, annoying. Unless you are von thronstahl (obviously.) --Well, I thought more people read about wwii + a speech like that, in german, about war?? Screams third reich to me. | Wolfhorde
01.26.13 | Well "a speech like that" only counts if you actually understand some of it. Also, if you sit in history you'll know that there are GAJILLION speeches like that. Especially if it's abou euphemisms for nonsensical wars.
Eh, I kinda believe it's neither. In terms of political content there's too much speculation. | JamieTwort
01.26.13 | 6 sounds sweet so far. | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | I do get what you mean but since it's written in German I expected most people to link it to wwii. But yes, there are millions anyway.
Most martial & neofolk bands use it for shock value, I believe. If Douglas P. was actually a 'fascist gay that deserves to die in gas chambers' (yes, someone actually said that) he would't be giving concerts on jewish territory, nor use jewish flags in some of them. Many projects (perhaps) hold questionable beliefs, in the same way that David Tibet does, but saying they are nazis is kinda-like crossing the line, don't you think? | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | 6 sounds sweet so far.
have fun. I adore how they implemented something like krautrock in a post-modern vibe industrial, the rock in opposition elements are also easy to note. | Wolfhorde
01.26.13 | I think postulating that anyone belongs to an extremist political ideology that promotes superficial violence, racism, chauvinism and the likes is going quite far. Ironically, in Germany this can actually get you a pretty big sentence/fine. | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | Agreed. Dude, (in Germany) can you get into trouble for wearing a dij shirt with a totenkopf? | Wolfhorde
01.26.13 | Dij? What's that? And I wouldn't presume so since we have a huge metal scene and bandshirts are probably more 'vulgar'. | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | death in june. | Wolfhorde
01.26.13 | Nah, why would it? You only get into trouble if what you're wearing explicitly shows symbols the nazis used. And by that I mean actual nazi symbols, not just a swastika or runes in general. | GiaNXGX
01.26.13 | Thing is I've always wanted to travel to Germany & if I ever do so I might wear my dij shirt at least once. Germany is a beautiful country, and I love your beers haha, great brews. Thanks! t' was cool to have this talk. | MisterTornado
