Sonata Arctica Plan Rarities Comp 2010-01-21 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 7 Comments | Finnish power metallers Sonata Arctica will release a compilation of rare tracks entitled Takatalvi on February 8.
Takatalvi features a mixture of original recordings, acoustic versions and covers that have only previously been available on Japanese EPs, including the original version of 'San Sebastian,' which later appeared on the 2001 album Silence.
Cover versions on offer include Metallica's 'Fade To Black,' Iron Maiden's 'Die With Your Boots On,' the Scorpions' 'Still Loving You,' Helloween's 'I Want You' and Bette Midler's 'The Wind Beneath My Wings.'
On the same day, Spinefarm UK will re-issue the group's 2002 live album Songs of Silence – Live in Tokyo and 2003's Winterheart's Guild.

"The Wind Beneath My Wings" and (if I'm in a good mood) "Victoria's Secret" are the only two songs I like from this band
| | | I'll probably get this. I love this band and still have yet to hear a lot of these songs.
| | | This has been around since at least October 2008. Or is this a reissue?
| | | im soo pumped to see these guys in April.
they totally rule.
| | | I remember liking some songs off Silence, but I stopped really caring for this band ages ago.
| | | Their cover of Fade To Black is pretty good.
| | | This news is incorrect: Takatalvi is a rerelease as well, with and added track (that The Wind Beneath My Wings, which I've never heard of).
The original Takatalvi EP was released in 2003, and contained 3 covers (I Want Out, Fade to Black and Still Loving You) and 4 rare Sonata songs.
