djent is a genre if you look at it in a different sense. most djent bands are obsessed with polymeters/polyrhythms and pseudo-technical bullshit with a mix of harsh/clean vocals and really plastic-y, overproduced and computerized production. plus, you know, the guitar tone. in that sense I'd call it a genre
