Well, shit. This is perfect.
| |
insta-2 from noctus lol
| |
Gotta check this.
| |
jeez what a sourpuss
| |
Good record, I like it quite a bit. Sounds more melodic than Torn Beyond Reason, and kind of sounds like what Deafheaven would be if they weren't so lame and actually listened to more metal.
| |
this is amazing guys
| |
I wouldn't go that far
| |
kris wouldn't know any better let him express his bliss
| |
well ya i don't really know much about BM (finally starting to get an ear for it) and i belong to the crowd that thinks Sunbather is a goddamn delight so we're gonna have differing opinions
| |
I know better and I think it's incredible. I know being a metal fan is all about how much more metal you can be than everyone else, but fucking christ, this record is everything I want out of a newer style atmospheric black metal record.
| |
there u go feel empowered
| |
The condescension runs deep in this one...
| |
wasn't towards you
| |
guys i listened to hvis lyset tar oss last night and i actually GOT it
like
thats big for me
so
yeah
fuck off im gettin there

| |

Kris, you're one step closer of becoming a militant white supremacist. Congratulations.

I think I like Torn Beyond Reason better.
| |
I like Towards the Depths the most. I think the really clear and up front drums on Torn Beyond Reason detract from the atmosphere. I'm more of a fan of drums being lower in the mix and hidden behind the production rather than being placed on top.
| |
Oh Towards The Depths is definitely his best record by a pretty big margin. As The Stars feels a lot like Torn Beyond Reason but with a bit more of an upbeat mood. It's good but I think he is better at expressing the moods found on his first two a lot more effectively.
| |
I don't think Noctus will 2 this
| |
I wouldn't be surprised. Gotta love him though....
| |
too late
he 4.5'd Torn Beyond Reason so no idea why he doesn't like this
| |
and 2.5'd towards the depths lol
| |
I don't understand Noctus' ways, but more power to the dude haha
| |
he sucks
| |
2.5 for Toward the Depths is pretty upsetting....
| |
The condescension runs deep in this one...
jesus christ poor joke recognition skills 101
| |
This band makes me feel so happy and free. I think I might be broken.
| |
mite czech

Because the production is god-awful. The opening riffs of the first song are almost painful to listen to because of that mixing. It's a good album, but the way it sounds is inexcusable.
| |
The production's great. The mixing not so much. Sorry Zaruyache, i saw the stream and I guess the Contrib tag helps push it through. (although I don't know you actually had your article up first).
| |
production is fine
| |
wow this autumn light might be the best bm song ive heard in a very long time
| |
It works for me m/
| |
damn, this is actually kind of uplifting.
| |
didn't like this album, sorry :]
all of the good aspects of this album were done better in the last album for me
had this album for a few weeks and it hasn't grown at all
shame too because i adore torn beyond reason

yeah, bingo. this isn't even 'raw' production - someone just turned up the treble all the way for no reason. i wish shit like this didn't bother me but it totally does.
| |
This is sick.
| |
i hear a lot of grey waters in this too (depressive rock project of one of the guys) and i was never keen on that either
| |
Grey Waters is a pretty cool band, I would like to hear more from them.
| |
really wish i was liking this album as much as everyone else ]:
| |
i guess its a testament to the power of the subjectivity of perception but this is some of the best BM production ive heard in a long time. very well executed wall of sound aesthetic while all the instruments have room to breathe amid the noise wall.
maybe its cause im listening to it on high quality gear?
| |
love this album
| |
Grey Waters were able to make really great feelings, but their songs were just way too repetitive. Seemed like every song was structured the same way and revolved around the same formula, which got old really fast. Individual tracks are great, though.
Sorry Zaruyache
hehehehe I was kidding. No harm done bro
| |
that album art rules, will listen soon
| |
Cover art is gorgeous. I'll have to spin this later.
| |
hmmm. haven't heard these guys but stoked to check
| |
youd love em atari, get towards the depths too
| |
will do, thanks mang
| |
this is really great. anyone who liked sunbather has no reason to not check this out
| |
Admittedly, this kicks the shit out of Sunbather
| |
maybe its cause im listening to it on high quality gear?
as am i, as long as you consider $300 headphones high quality gear
| |
^that's a lot of money to spend on headphones just to listen to music you don't even like lol
| |
My $20 headphones from RadioShack were a great investment.
| |
Glad to hear they went further in the direction of Torn Beyond Reason. That was a huge step-up from their (IMO) pseudo depressive black metal debut. However, this type of crystallized melody in black metal can get a little dull after awhile.
| |
Their debut was fantastic come on wiz
| |
digging this so far
| |
Their debut was fantastic come on wiz
No it wasn't, it sucked a lot actually. It just fucking droned wayyyyyyyyyyy to long.
