Dean Blunt's Black Metal

2014-03-04 by MisterTornado | 25 Comments
Coming off the steam of last year's mystifying isolation chamber The Redeemer and a recent 26-minute mixtape entitled Skin Fade with folkstress Joanne Robertson, Dean Blunt has signed with indie label Rough Trade, who will be putting out his next release called Black Metal (whether its an LP, EP, or another cryptic mixtape has yet to be said, although it's likely to be a full-length album considering Rough Trade is releasing this).

Blunt has also released a new track on his YouTube channel called 'MERSH', which can be seen here:

This new track sounds like a homebrewed version of The Streets' Original Pirate Material. Simultaneously awesome and completely lethargic. It's the kind of thing you'd hear in the lobby of an early 90s rave to prepare yourself for the mayhem, obscured in blunt clouds and convenient glass tables for snoring cocaine.

Deviant.

ehhh. we'll see i guess. i like that he's not afraid to do wtf he wants, but at the same time i really want more in the realm of redeemer/ more experimentation

MERSH sounds lot more like early Hype Williams than any of his solo work, which I think is cool

The entirety of his YouTube channel is crazy, just start browsing through some videos on there and you'll see what I'm talking about. I've been watchin' youuu

Much as I like Hype Williams, he's doing something far greater with the solo work agreed.
